Good evening rollitup members.

Mostly I have talked about what goes on inside the tent .

Let’s talk a bit about outside.

If you have looked through my pics , in post 11there was a stainless wort coil.

This is the device I use to chill my system.

Not that I didn’t want to spend 600 bucks on a chiller then a few hundred more on a coil and parts to make an isolated system.

So a few YouTube videos and a shopping list and boom this is what you get.

My storage rack.

That's cool as fk.

I would definitely be interested on how some other members add there silica to there mix.

Most reading is that it must go in first and what not, but what happens when you don’t change your water often .

Perhaps I mistaking the process but as long as your mix is in the proper ph range then adding silica should be as easy as adding anything else to the mix?

I would be very interested in what others think.

As I also think there is a short timeframe it’s even active or perhaps I am again missing the mark?

Thanks again for any of your tips, tricks and insight.
Personally I like to add the silica first and wait five mins before adding any other goodies

Personally would do the same exact same thing , mixing with 8-12 litres of water , ph ing it way back down then adding to circulate.

Now the big ? For me is .

What if you don’t dump your tote?

My understanding silica is used only in the first few days of application.

So how I apply would be very similar other than I would need a bit more water to get all the silic mixed to a ppm equal to what’s being run.

I would dump this 16litre mix in too top up and the only thing I notice.

It would use 1/3 less amount of water for the next day while this mix run through.

My mix looks clear , yes I have seen silic cloud up in water but it disappears just as fast.

The ladies have not been complaining.

But maybe this is not the right way to approach.

And if so just yell, I have big shoulders and will use another’s advise.

Thank you very much for looking.

Can I ask about that chiller? You used a window ac unit? I used a dehumidifier and put the coils in water. It worked just not quite enough. Doesn't the ac unit put off a lot of heat when running?
You can ask anything you like.

Yes I picked up a used 5000 btu and bent could gently put the back, which in turn let me trim the unit a bit shorter.

I started with a dehumidifier but punctured it.

One side of the fan remains sucking through top under the shelf then through the conditioner out the rad you see.

I run air conditioner in my garage through summer so I would think yes it does create some heat.

It runs for 1.25 hrs then it’s off for hr.

So 2.25 cycle set at 66. It stops at 66 but would run to 65 then once it hit 67 it’s back on again. Warms to 67.5 before it starts coming back.
Cooling 35 gallons

Also there was a bit of playing with the glycol mix.

As 65 percent it just would not cool as rapid as it does at 50.

From my pics I believe I have had a bit of evaporation as I’m sure it was a bit closer to the top of the coil in the cooler .

Will get some distilled tomorrow and add a bit.

What temp is the glycol after 2.25 hours of running?

I have the inkbird set at 66. +- offset set to 1

At 67 conditioner comes on and in 1.25 hrs it has taken the mix to 66.

Shuts off, pump in cooler runs all the time .

So it cycles down from the residual to 65 .

I probably could get it faster with a bit less glycol but I also want the ability to hold the cool as long as possible.

I was thinking the numbers in first post were air temp for some reason. How much was the wort cooler coil?
Ok I am happy to report , since I have not timed lately, perhaps the cooler temps outside.
Or cycling degree cooler as I was at 67.

So it took 35 minutes for it to change probe temp that sits one of my first buckets.

I then took a reading . It has taken the glycol mix to 59.4 .

Coil was 90 bucks Canadian . 1/2 inch 25ft length.
Glycol was about same maybe slightly more .

All in maybe 400 .

I have spare conditioner just in case.

Ok rollitup members .

Special thx to www.mar-hydro.com.

How do you do your rooting?

Personally I like to use oasis cubes , this product is neutral which makes it a perfect choice.

Yes I have used rockwool but have found it’s more trouble than it worth.

Here is a Bangi Haze example taken for a friend to help a germination issue.

Today I can say that a Mars light has won her over.

I use a small fluorescent that I had for etching boards that has come in handy .

I would keep my tray on my dishnet ( Aka bell)
Receiver , keeping it toasty and the humidity to the roof.

Roots show in 10-12 days.
