Anyone know a good mold resistant strain to grow in ky I have had to throw out probably 3lbs in as many years

Yeah I still managed to salvage about 8lbs last year out of 3 plants but had to take a little earlier than I wanted. I have also been thinking greenhouse myself thanks for reply good luck to you

I cant take anything early, just refuse to do it.. rather have a qp of mature bud than 4 lbs of premature..
My bigger problem is these corn borers, thats what my plant looks like after a mild storm in late september..the whole plant gets split like a bananna peel because these borers have weakened every branch.
I used to pull 10 to 12 lbs with very little effort and the last few years its closer to 2 or 3.. a greenhouse will solve all that.

Not exactly
I have one and with all the rains we had this year I had eight windows and both doors wide open with fan blowing thru and still had a couple bud rot

It can be hard if the weather shows herself from the ugly side. Personally i would consider something not really dense. Maroc inspiration

I too have a greenhouse with both ends screened off so air can move through it and had fans and still had some bud rot even on mold resistant strains like blue cheese just so hard to control the environment outdoors. But that free light is hard to beat

I know it’s hard but maybe look into light depervation but you would have to do it same time everyday but you can be done before the rain season kicks in. I’m going to try to put some type of tool up cover on my greenhouse like a camper awning that will be on a timer with and electric motor so it covers at same time everyday at least that’s my idea hopefully I can make it work

Yeah.. was thinking the same thing..you only need to do it for 3 weeks..figure id start on july 27th or so and mid august theyll be in full bloom..then let natural cycle do its thing. I think the key is having most plants harvested by the first week of october.

No matter what if the condition is ideal your gona get bud rot. Resistance is just that it's not immunity. While some plants will turn to mush, others will just get some spots here and there.. bud rot is the name of the game outdoors in humid areas and chucking out buds is just something you gotta get used to. Instead of looking for the perfect plant try to give the plants you have a better environment and better defense against pathogens. Using silica, boosting Brix levels using chitosan, vitamin B1, keeping nice active colonies of fungi and bacteria in soil is also key. Healthy plants will ward off pests and fungus by themselves for the most part.
Keeping the area clear from other plants, spraying ornamentals that are prone to mold infections, keeping air flow through the plant are all things needed to consider while growing outside to limit infection

I was going to make one out of panda film that will roll over my hoop house and retract on a awning system of sorts if I can pull it off I only need to to cover for few hours a day to get me that 12hrs of darkness. I have a plan guess I just need to work my plan. I have found that the biggest problem is cool night temps besides the humidity once the night time temps start dropping it’s a breeding ground for mold and rot

I played with the idea using a pool cover roller but
The cost of a low speed motor and controller still left me needing to cycle it twice a day manually
I hope you get it worked out but I’m not turning my summer into a babysitter job

I don't recall. It's rough in Ky. On wet years it's damn near impossible to not have any mold or rot.
Stick with lankier strains. Big thick buds tend to get it worse.
Air flow is important. Hard to do when guerilla growing.
I've had luck with gg4, cookies, bubba kush and other kushes, sourd, different chems, and others I forget.
Usually the strain listing on seed sites will list mold resistance.
There are growers in Ky that have strains grown for generations and acclimated. You can do the same. Started breeding some and after a few generations they will acclimate.

I have access to the big servo type motors and a certified welder so I think I can make it work. But I’m on board with ya not wanting to baby sit all Dang summer. I’m also going to install one of the automatic louvres on my hoop house so it opens at a set temp and or humidity to exhaust all the air through but will see what I can make workI played with the idea using a pool cover roller but
