Do I need a heat pad when cloning?

it helps provided it's a grow heat pad your talking about not a medical one. If your room is warm though (75-80 F) you'll get by without one.

I use one .... doubt it's a requirement if your space is warm enough. I use one because I grow clones in the closet of my grow room and I keep that room air conditioned.... soooo a heating pad makes sense for my setup.

LOL... I use a medical one.... set on low.... I put a towel on top of it and the clone tray on top of that.... works great and only cost something like $15.

I have a strain, blue dream, that I cant get to root. My hydrostore guy told me to add a tiny dose of bloom and some bio-bizz root juice to my regular concoction of clonex clone solution and hygrozyme that my clones sit in for the first 4 days. I keep a dome on them for a week then take it off. And I use oasis wedges as substrate and dip the cuttings in clonex gel.
My question, do I need a heat mat? Will it really help these clones that dont like to root?

Found one of my blue dreams...
with a toatally cooked stem! Now what do I do? Thats 8 clones of this strain that Ive killed and the rest I havnt even gotten roots from. I have yet to see what damage that super hot heating pad has done to the other cuttings that are still standing. How many have been so cooked that they cant grow roots? Ive been waiting so long to have this particular tray of clones and what the hell, I fucked 'em all up How could this happen? My hydro store guy told me I needed one of these and I just followed the directions, put it on the mat...that thing fuck'n baked that one's stem. thing didnt have a chance. Have I been cursed?

I used a heating mat, it was kinda hot, so I used pencils to elevate my clone tray and humidity dome off of it. It also raised the temperature of my humidity dome. I had them in my garage which is less than 60 degrees at night.

You want the medium to be warmer so the roots will grow faster. If the foliage is colder, it will grow slower which is exactly what you want with clones. You want the piece of plant to put as much energy into making roots as possible which would go hand in hand with putting as little energy into growing leaves as possible. fdd2blk u were close. I wouldn't say 10 degrees rather a few. Canopy 75, growing medium 78 is perfect.
