Hey guys and gals,

So its been 61 days into flowering and its close to havest time. It the past, I've tried dehydrating it, hanging it, letting it dry under lights. This was mostly done because of impatients. So this time I just picked up a amazing Oz of bud so I am not tempted to hurry this at all.
So what I need from you guys is all the tips and tricks you can think of, moeny is not an issue (within reason of course). As it sits now, the plan is to stop watering today, let them sit in the dark for 3 days, then chop them and hang them upside down for another week. I want to get the most out of my bud. I've looked at it under a microscope and the triclomes are about 30% amber, 40% milky and 30% clear. So, please, when should I crop this off and what are some sweet tips for this critical stage.

keep the lights off for the last 24 hours, it's too late to add flavoring or molasses

There are many options, I prefer (rarely do it though due to time limits) to air dry hanging in the dark for a week or whatever it takes to almost be dry enough but not quite, then take the whole plant and stick it in a cardboard box and seal it up.

Let it sit in the box until it is exactly the right humidity level for the buds to burn just right, test em.

Plant should be whole the entire time, not chopped up until the last second.

Some put the whole plant in a sealed carboard box pretty damn wet and others do it freshly chopped with no air dry, then let it sit in the box and slowly dry for months, as in up to three. This is how cannabis cup weed is cured, at least from a couple shops I know of. It's done slowly over a very long period of time in a humidity and temperature controlled room in a simple cardboard box. The only trick is stuff the box, not a wispy plant in a big box or it will just end up crispy dry.

Anyone that tries for three months better really know what they're doing and have a serious clean room and be bug free. A fresh plant stuffed in a box takes skill to make it without rotting or being eaten by bugs or something else bad going wrong during the time it's still really wet.

So ya that was pretty much how I was planning on doing it, besides the cardboard box part. Will paper bags work the same as a cardboard box, it's just one plant? The strain is white widdows crossed with maui wowie.

After 2 days of darkness I chop and hang 'em in a dark room with a fan blowing away from them. This keeps the air moving around the room and doesn't push the plants around. Once they are dry I do all the pruning. Keep the clippings for hash and put the buds I'm keeping for myself into glass jars, opening the jars once a day. All this comes straight for an Ed Rosenthal grow book.

That's how I was doin it before but this time I won't have a box with fans that won't have lights on.

Also, any tips as to when I should crop it? Is looking at the triclomes the best way?

Anyone have any advice as to when to crop? I like a coutch lock high, I use it medicinally for appetite and to control panic (to fix it believe it or not) I've heard the longer you leave it the more of a coutch lock high you get and less paranoia, is this all BS? Should I leave it another few weeks or crop it now?

Thanks!

When 75% or so of the trichomes are amber you have reached couch lock, then the longer the cure after that the stonier it will get up to a point.

Relating to the flush, soil plants should always be chopped within a few hrs of a heavy watering. This reduces the amount of nutrients that have been absorbed from the soil into the buds. Taste is much better!

Wait wait wait, its too early for the massive couch lock,i learned to wait till atleast 50% of the trichs are honey colored then stop watering them till they get droopy, then chop em down, you'll end up with a massive heavy stone if you wait another 15 to 20 days.

Really nice looking buds. Looks like it snowed on them...... nice..... enjoy. Sounds like you have a good drying and curing plan. Just wait till most of the res glands go from clear to cloudy that is when you have peak THC levels. Look at them with a strong magnifying glass or a microscope if you have one. That is the best way to tell when it's ready.

When I harvest I like to leave the big fan leaves on for about 3 days. A TON of water evaporates out of the leaves when you leave them. If you take 1 and cut all the leaves off when you harvest, that 1 will take the longest to dry.
