Ok, had a similar problem to some plants I just harvested. Now I’m having a caterpillar infestation on this plant. She’s 5 gallons dirt, FF trio, outdoors in SoCal. She’s getting pretty close to done I think, and I’ve never applied BT before. I’m scared to try it for the first time on this when she’s so close. It looks like she might still be stacking buds, but actually I’m not so sure. I know I gotta treat with BT if I should let her go, but if it were yours, would you just chop at this point, discard bud rot, bud wash remaining and cut my losses? Appreciate any insight.

It could be, but doubtful. Pretty sure bud rot from caterpillar, I believe. Found them burrowing in the rotting buds. But that’s why I’m here. Thanks for the input!! Cheers.

Sorry brother, you have a couple choices; wearing rubber gloves remove all the bud rot found, keep a close look on the plant until harvest, if no new bud rot grows then maybe, just maybe the plant will make it to harvest. If new new bud rot is found to continue growing, best thing to do is remove the new rot, cut the plant and harvest early.

I have to agree with @Herb & Suds . Next year don't start them in the 5 gallon pot. Start them in 1 gallon, then 3 gallon then move to the 5 gallon. You started that girl early indoors I'm assuming and it's lived almost it's whole life in that 5 gallon bucket and the roots out grew the bucket. That plant wasn't anywhere near done. The pistols turned brown because it's dying. I do see caterpillar poop next to a bud but that won't cause the bud rot. The buds rotting because the plant is dying. The plant seems root bound so it won't take up nutrients so it takes them from the older leaves and buds. If it's your only one you can try cutting the rotted buds off, then cut the bottom of the bucket off and put it on top of another bucket with a hydroponic mix or more soil but it's in flower so it doesn't really want to grow more roots. It's worth a try. If you have others I'd cut that thing down so the mold doesn't spread to my others. I would also spray my others in case the spores have already transferred and do my best to keep the rain off my others as well

An early harvest is better than no harvest.. I would harvest asap..
From what I see you would be fighting a loosing battle..
Intergrated Pest Management started in veg would have mitigated your damage..

I have other plants that aren’t having this problem (yet). Was thinking about bud washing, and making hash from this. But I’m super new to growing and love the feedback.
