It's possible you are over thinking this just a tad. I usually water mine in the morning after I feed the parrots. They are doing ok.

Water when lights come on. Don't water at least a few hrs before lights go off. Unless they need it

for soils at least, it's best practice is to maintain water balance. you replace what the plants and evaporation took so they never really 'need' the water, there is always enough water for them, never too much, never too little.

The best time for watering is 4:20 AM. The roots are talking to eachother in Rootanise and getting ready for school.

All the Chads are sleeping off their coke binge so it's nice and peaceful for a few hours you get to spend some geniuine time with your plants

I would never tell anybody what to do. Mine get fed a lil after lights on which is nighttime for me. The earthbox gets water as soon as I see it empty.
