TMV? Deficiency? Variegation? Mutation? What is up with this plant?!

So quick backstory on this plant; we used to have a strain that was popular in my area that was sold as "Blueberry" because of its super strong blueberry terps but supposedly it was just Blue Dream. The guy that was growing and selling it passed away and a person who used to help him grow gave me basically a bag seed that they say is an S1 of that plant.

I decided to grow it out and this plant is throwing me for a loop, all through veg it has had the issue in the below pics. I was vegging under LED and have been addressing this as a mag deficiency but its not showing any improvement, its also growing vigorously despite looking funky and the clone I took of it is showing the start of the same leaf pattern on new growth. Slight twisted leaves with this splotchy pattern that for the most part tends to only be on one side of the leaf. No bottled nutes besides calmag, FFOF, RO water PHed between 6.5 and 6.8 (I don't use my tap water because its 700 PPM and softened with salts). I have twelve plants of different strains right now, this is the only one that I'm having issues with.

The person who gave me this seed thinks this is just variegation, I think it could be something else due to the leaves twisting. It looks a lot like TMV if its not a mag issue and if its a deficiency I'm at a loss of how to correct this plant, giving it more magnesium hasn't helped it.

Same thing here didn’t affect anything. Except some jars after cutting developed a different smell than the other jars. So you should grow them out and put the buds from the stems like this is in labled jars. And see if there is a difference.

It does look like a mosaic virus. Just do not share cutting tools between plants and I've never had any problem with my plants that had that look to them. Best of luck.

PS there are labs that can test for you: https://allcropsolutions.com/disease-testing/hemp-and-hop-diseases/
This is so odd, from what I'm reading they can get this when exposed to tobacco products but I don't use tobacco or have any tobacco products in my house. I think I can rule out it being in the soil because none of my other plants are doing this.

It might be in my best interest just to get this plant out of my garden rather than grow it out and have it tested.

Wouldn’t read too much into it … it happens . Sometimes genetic / mutations. I had split color leaf a few times , no issues , grew it smoked it.

Lighter areas are where pigmentation is thin , ” could “ impact photosynthesis in that leaf … but it’s negligible.

Carry on.

Plants doin plant shit.

It's a form of variegation. I have a lot of it in the current grow, but it's not affecting flowers or yield. I wasn't ph-ing my water and so I did start adjusting it to 6.0 and that seemed to help... It's probably not TMV, but there's a lot of opinions about that. Some people think TMV is a good thing, as TMV antibodies in smokers may reduce the risk of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

It can come from other plants too, not just tobacco. Hemp even has its own strain of mosaic virus. I would not worry about it. The plants I've had that looked like that finished up fine. The only precaution I would take is not to disinfect any cutting tool you use on that plant before you use on another plant or put it away.

I think that's a typo, no? You should disinfect your cutting tools anytime you move from one plant to another.

Nope it's not a typo. That would absolutely be best practice. I have never bothered. The only time I've disinfected, my cutting tools, is after I finish or the time I had a dudded off plant (Latent Hop Viroid, before we knew) or a plant that had mosaic patterning. Then I saved working on them for last and disinfected immediately.

I don't see it on any of my other plants and this was from seed so I'm not sure how it would get it from another plant. Maybe the seed hull itself can get infected?

I thought it might just be variegation after it didn't respond to mag treatment and had never heard of TMV until yesterday. I'm seeing stunted/mutated growth on some leaves and that has me moving away from the variegation theory.

Here is a good example of the stunted growth, sorry about the HPS light, I didn't feel like pulling her out of the tent this morning.

I'm just worried about it possibly infecting my other plants if it is a virus. Reading about TMV last night had me freaking out but maybe it is just plants doing weird plant shit

Well I'm pretty much positive this is a virus now, I found it on a Northern Light cross I'm growing in the same tent, I cleaned my scissors before trimming but not in-between trimming the affected plant and the NL. I have clone of the NL in a 1 gal pot same tent and one in a veg tent that I didn't use the same scissors on and they don't show this at all.
