I keep getting this (algae) in my reservoir

Hi I've covered all the light entering this reservoir. I dont have a proper air tight top for it, I am using a curtain.
I keep getting this slightly brown sand-looking algae in there after a couple days.
How harmful is this stuff? I was hoping to continue to change my reservoir every 2 weeks but I worry if this is problematic and how I can mitigate if so? (I am running Soil-Less Medium).

Perhaps that could be the case. How would I know? I think it kinda did seem to dissolve back into the water when I agitate....? Would that indicate?

Interesting idea, I will look into it... any model you recommend?
I used to do a waterfall back into my res when I did my rdwc. It gives more DO and mixes nutrients better.

What kind of nutrients are you using?

I meant the brand. I had a little fallout with Canna Coco A B, a massive amount with Mega Crop, and almost none at all with Jacks.

It it is algae, the water might be getting too warm and light may be leaking. Try wrapping the res in panda film. It keeps out light and the white outside doesn't absorb the heat like darker colors. Plus you could use some hydrogen peroxide to kill it.

This brand is called Evolution Solution by Accent Hydroponics. Thanks for advice guys.

I will keep trying stuff. If it is indeed a bit of algae at the bottom, its not the end of the world right?

Algae can be a real problem if left unchecked. Are you seeing any on your roots / pots? I've only dealt with green algae, and it tends to grow on the roots / pots and also at the top of the res.

I havent noticed any algae on the pots/medium/roots recently but I'll keep an eye out. Thanks

When I did mix the water that had the material at the bottom, it did appear to dissolve into the water.

Thus I am thinking this material could have simply been salts, if that is the expected response for it to dissolve back into the water upon mixing?

Stirring up brown algae will just break it up and create bits of it suspended in your solution. It'll look dissolved but you'll actually have tiny particles floating around. Look closely under light and look for those particles.

Once the water settles look for it to sit on the bottom again short after.
