Thank you. I apologize to all in this post I offended. I'm embarrassed and going to learn from this and try not to be a clown in the future. I'm just going to lurk until I have a better grasp on what I'm talking about and control myself to say only kind things. Good luck curious2garden.

Yah, I realized I need to stay logged in to view pictures. But this is definitely my last post for a long long time. I just waisted 4 hours of my life looking like a complete douche commenting with nothing of substance. Perhaps you can learn from me...
LOL don't run stick around. Give your opinion and be part of the group. I honestly would like to see what you're growing. I wish you the best.

Move on. You got some decent information. Whether you choose to listen to it is up to you. No reason to run away and call yourself names.

It is what it is. It's up to the rest of us to be patient and work harder explaining the truth.
Yeah, up to a point, then the pointing and fun making begins! I try to strike a balance and as long as someone is really trying I'll meet them where they are. I also don't assume I'm right and check my facts often.

The questions asked are aimed at a Soil garden with bottled Nutes and hypothetically aimed at a picturesque/ideal garden but may apply to others (help a newbie out please). I've read so much on this debate/process (scientific and broscience), asked people. And seen well renowned people such as Mr. Grow it and Mr. Canuck (among others known and unknown) although both mentioned are using organic pre amended soil/coco, they only water (maybe with molasses/honey) for the last two weeks and say they get a beautiful fade through their girls consistently by doing that (excluding any def's). Although Mr. grow it, had released a video showing a study which does mention a few benefits/debunk a few wives tails. Others such as Mr. Canuck and even Mr. grow it, honestly, support the "smoother smoke". A few others mention the breakdown/depletion of remaining/excess nutrients within the plant specifically i.e. sulfur, phosphorous, nitrogen which may affect taste, onsets quicker/ can occur from flushing prior to harvest.... my questions based on all this are:

- Once a plant is almost "ready" or just ready for pluck/chop, if it had nutrient burn slight or severe or even despite this, would the plant really only have what nutes are needed to dry/cure/be smoked and no more, and would any of them affect the taste/process of dark period/chop/drying/curing for desired outcome you want (specifically smoke)?

- Is Chlorophyll the only internal contributing factor/compound towards taste within the plant/buds in the final few weeks of a pheno/plants life before the dark period/chop/dry/cure? ***(excluding all uncontrollable variables such as genetics and external factors such as moisture/rh/temp/airflow/overall conditions and environment that's all i can think of...)***

-
Does having less/no nutrients in the soil (besides make the plant use what's inside of it) help break down Chlorophyll and or any other taste affecting internal non variable factor faster (minus n deficiency if that makes sense)?

Hopefully that any of this makes sense... i have a ton more questions but honestly i am still researching hours of botanical studies/experiences/vlogs etc. everyday

I'm sorry in advance if any frustration is caused - I'm trying to exclude the variables in my questions and get down to the bottom of flushing, and although obviously comparing two clones of the exact same plant/pheno and doing a side by side of flush and no flush in the exact same conditions that go through the same process (except on being flushed) would probably be the only way to find if it makes a real or personal difference (besides placebo lol)... I've 0 grows under the belt so this is not possible especially in illegaland :( .This is in the name of science . . .

I personally find NV's videos interesting as refference for what im talking about such as this one:
At 38 mins he explains why he does it and what benefits he thinks it has.
Don't follow NV I just wanted some of his stupidity running 5 gallons of water through and then feeding. Just feed low and slow simple. He pulls early. Buds were clearly not ready and wonders why ppl knock his 2oz a plant. Flushing isn't needed chlorophyll takes time to break down period. Don't starve your plants feed til you chop.

He should have taken a look to that RX Green flushing study, in the "taste and smoke characteristics of flower" it says:
"Overall, the duration of the flushing period had no impact on flavor, smoothness of smoke, or color of ash"
below that it says:
"Smoothness of the smoke increased with decreasing flushing time, although was not significantly different"
and at the beginning of the study they say that all plants observed were cured after harvest, if we can assume the curing took the same amount of time for every plant observed then, who cares about that whole chlorophyll thing being supposedly flushed away, the smoothness of the smoke is the same.

man this thread is wild, really so much discussion when none of the people involved actually flush xD.
The beauty of science is not having to take Arsenic to determine it's a poison.

Thanks, you too. Going to stick around but limit my posting and try not to be embarrassing. I'm here to learn, I'm not a source of information. This is my 2x3x4 1'2 that I was considering flowering with photoperiods. A few have called me on thinking about doing that, I ended up not and keeping the tent on 18/6 because I failed at training my auto lemon that is in the front, she outgrew my smaller tent and had to move her in. I have another light above her and my carbon filter is pinning her down and the light angled onto her. I'm also a noob at taking pictures lol. The auto Anesthesia in the back swelled up nicely, I'm glad I didn't switch to 12/12. Going to harvest her tomorrow. Going to up pot the tangerine dream and sour queen to 7 gallons and move them to a bigger tent to veg into a trellis. And move some smaller girls in. This tent is located on my desktop and a pain to get to in the back

The auto Anesthesia in the back (left?) can we get a better picture? I think I see a lot of white wisps that means she may need to go a little longer. But I can't be sure. Your plants look good, if a little hungry.

I'm not very good at taking photos, lack of skill and I probably need a better phone. The trichomes are about 10% amber with the rest milky white and very few clear. About 20" of the wisps are white. I'm almost out of smoke, so I am wanting to harvest asap. What do you think?

That one stretched a stupid amount. You need to look into upgrading the lighting in there.

I was going to give a legit scientific answer on why flushing doesnt help at all but I have typed it out so many damn times in the past 2 years I just dont have it in me.

So il do this instead. View attachment 4934775View attachment 4934776

Dont flush
Keep saying it. If its BS as you have said and backed with evidence, then you are educating people and saving them from one more absurd and unnecessary action. I hate taking care of swimming pools but I always get ask questions about pools and I have to tell them the same two things all the time: check the pH make sure the chlorine level is high enough. I get tired of saying it but it’s important for people to hear facts and not BS

cool, so flushing helps to get rid of chlorophyll, that's what i'm saying!

Oh, but which chlorophyll?

Flushing causes the plant to lose access to nutrients in the ground. At that point it still wants to grow your bud. So it starts stealing portable nutrients from the leaves on the bottom. At that point those leaves can no longer perform photosynthesis so they become useless to the plant so the plant chokes them off and they eventually fall off.

If you manage to starve your plant for enough time for the vast majority of leaves to yellow out, that's a stressed plant. On the other hand if it's merely two weeks, and you do it just to save on fertilizer costs, go for it. According to the studies there's no difference if you start starving it in the final two weeks.

This chlorophyll that was in those leaves has migrated to the top of the plant into the buds that you will be smoking. That was the whole point of the migration.

It's like... he's made chlorophyll his mortal enemy or something. All chlorophyll must die! Lol
In 20 minutes I'm going to wake up my tent. I have three plants filled with underbrush. Really sticky under brush.

I'm going to clip those, toss them on some Pyrex, and dehydrate them in 150°. They are going to be ass kicking. I'll get enough out of that to smoke until I harvest in a month.

Yum, chlorophyll.
