not good, that's an arching sound of electricity. Check the bulb's tightness in the socket. When you replace that bulb move up to a hortilux blue.

hortilux doesn't make 600w blue

i wish they did, i'd be all on dat durr

that clicking may have something to do with your ballast. Are you using an e-ballast?

if you are using 600watt ballast i would recommend ordering two of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GrowBright-600-watt-MH-Conversion-Bulb-Metal-Halide-hps_W0QQitemZ180190792057QQcmdZViewItemQQptZHydroponics_Seed_Starting?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

you can get two of those for the price of one sunmaster or one hortilux.(one for use, and the other for backup if the first one blows out for some reason) This bulb is the CORRECT spectrum for VEG, HPS is 2000k, this bulb is 6500k. This bulb has 72000 lumens, and thats DAMN GOOD for a 600watt bulb, i have mine coming tomorrow and can't wait. Im upgrading from sunmaster 600watt MH which sits at 50k-55k lumnes, the extra 22k-17k lumnes is worth a try, i have a good feeling about these bulbs, plus they come from HTG Supply whom has great reviews and rating not to mention customer support

Had exactly the same problem today and thought it was the ballast or needed a new bulb, just took it back out and screwed it back in firmly, worked straight away:hump:
