Names please.

The hydro stores by me are neither helpful or knowledgeable. Can anybody give me the names of the items I need to put the "one and outs" in containers to modify them to buckets and reservoirs in rdwc?

I think he means grommets and barb fittings.. If you're doing 1/2", for grommets you'll need a 13/16th spade bit, the one with the spurs on the out side. The side with the bevels goes in first.. An 8" basket lid, and an GH drip ring kit.. Cut a hole in the bottom of the basket for the drip ring to go through.. That comes with a water sight tube and 90degree barb. Get enough hydroton to fill the basket to within 1" of the top.. An air pump to run the dripring.. If you're running only one bucket a simple air pump.. If running more you might consider a bigger GH air pump.. A static remote reservoir can be added with some grommets and barbs.. It not circulate water but you can add water to it that will move to the grow bucket as water is used up in the grow buckets.. The water needs to be at the same level in all buckets. Check the level in the reservoir and add back to it to bring the level back up in all buckets..

Ok,vso I used the said components, had to run my supply line from my reservoir up and over through the main hole in the side of my tent, to an 18 gallon tote. The supply is going for my reservoir to the bottom of my tote and since I was worried about leaks and had to have a place for my plant I turned my pump off and last night and the water was pushed back into my reservoir and overflowed a bit. For lack of better things my reservoir is only a five gallon pail and my grow bucket is slightly elevated so that when it reaches the fill level it can be drained back to the reservoir by gravity. Should I use a longer supply line and elevate it to compensate for this back pressure? Or should I just have it constantly flowing? As it was I would circulate it by a timer on off on off.....

And just so you guys know this is my first grow but I finally had it tweaked in and the root ball outgrew the five gallon bucket that it was in so here we are trying to do things right ,again. Well at least as correctly as time and finances will provide. And all as always I am very grateful for your time in any input.

There’s a thread on this forum on a cheap diy bulk head that can be done with very little knowledge of plumbing or fittings

I had to look it up so might as well add the link https://www.fishfarmsupply.ca/products/uniseal
You any good at building hydro systems @SmittyB.. ? I'm looking to build a rail system and could use some input.
I have built several systems. The problem with uniseals and 5 gallon buckets is uniseals work best when applied against a solid surface not a rounded surface. Leaks will occur with uniseals I believe in most situations unless you use a square tote reservoir carried by many home good stores that come in 5, 10 and so on gallons. I’d still go the bulkhead route. More expensive but worth it not having to stress over leaks.

2 inch bulkheads, got it
One other major thing to keep in mind if you’ve never grown dwc is the plants growth rate. I had a 9 site system in a 6x10 and with all equipment and full grown plants it was a nightmare for one person to maintain while also running veg and clone in another location. If you have any other life or family keep these thing a in mind. It literally can be a second part time job. I’m renovating my entire downstairs and have my grow room out of commission at the moment but I’m building back single plant rdwc scrogs in 2 separate 3x3 tents the next go around. Simple and still get great returns.

My very last grow last year was a single plant rdwc that I vegged for right at a month and ended up with 5 OZ from HLG650r spec. Strain was exotic genetix wowserz

Oh well sure. I wouldn't think of it. In 25 days my one plant grew, well...will see if I can get pics. More than one for me not an option at this point, no room!

You know of any links on here for rail systems? All I could find was one https://www.rollitup.org/p/16061187/
