There are multiple influence factors that people have written about but all of them imo are meant to merely improve your chances. And many if not all techniques seem to relate to reducing the amount of stress on tiny plants. No magic tricks for all female plants though.

The sex is determined by whether the haploid pollen has an X or Y chromosome and is already set in the seed at fertilization. That is why "fem" seeds that are all female are a possibility. All those people saying you can influence the sex with environmental factors are full of shit.

Surely you know environmental factors influence hermies. Using words like 'chromosome' and 'diocious' may make you seem like you grow it green to a noob but yeh.. Not fooling me.

Fish also use xy chromosome but factors like pH and temp can affect the outcome of the spawns sex. Eg low pH you will get more FEMS from the hatch. Some fish (swordtails) can change sex anytime through their life from fem to male if there aren't enough males around.
I'm no expert on the subject but I have seen this happen (aquarium guy). Maybe factors like pH of the soil can affect the outcome of the seeds while they are forming. I agree that you can't make a seed male or female from sprouting it but there could be other factors that affect the seeds while they are being produced. It's an interesting topic honestly. I'm not on either side just more interested on the topic itself.

According to PRO-MIX the soil contains:

• Canadian sphagnum peat moss
• Peat humus
• Perlite
• Limestone
• Controlled release fertilizer
• Mycorrhizae

I am not familiar with the idea of keeping a grow journal. Please explain.

Ya man growings a journey! Always something to learn. There's an ocean of information out there. Start off with the basics get a few good grows out then try to improve. It's a rewarding hobby for sure.
