Stunted Seedling Growth: What is Causing it and How to Fix It

Hello, I’m recently a new grower and my blue dream seedling is in its second week.

Over the last week my the seedling has started to shrivel up and turn into a brownish color (see attached images for reference). I’m not sure what is causing this issue (whether it be nutrient based, over watering, under watering) and if it’s even possible to fix it at this point.

thank you

For seelings less is better than more. They grow roots when dryer than wetter. Roots need o2 as much as h2o. In my opinion only. I let go dry between watering. Better than waterlogging them, better success and health and grow way faster.

Do you think it’s worth planting a new seed and trying again or try to get this one back to good health?

i keep my seedlings in a moist medium until they pop. once they pop i only water where the seedling is at once the top of the medium is dry. 9E0FBCA3-1AE4-4662-86F2-050D8D283CFC.jpeg

I only mist seedlings soil when dry I plant in clear solo cup with cuts then put that cup inside a red cup with slits so the roots don't get light. You can pick the cup up and see when ready to transplant.

Is that coco? Whatever it is you're keeping it too wet. And if it is coco did you precharge it with a mild nutrient solution before using? What are you using when you water? Plain water or nutrients?

At this point you're going to need to start over. You may want to think about just getting a bag of soil to start out with. Soilless is easy as long as you understand the basics. If you don't then it's best to just stick with the good old tried and proven soil grow. Add water when needed and a few doses of nutrients along the way and you're done.

I think if you get a decent bag of soil you're going to have better success in the beginning. Keep it as simple as possible. Grow plant. Harvest plant. Smoke plant. Done.

My first grow I used fox farms soil and nutes only issue I was using store distilled and didn't add cal-mag to supplement the di water had to during flower but still got 8oz cured off 3 plants. Start simple is the best advice.

It’s soil mixed with coco and nutrients. When I water it i just use ph neutral water without any nutrients. I planted a new seed today and will keep it moist until it sprouts and then keep it as a dry as I can

You could have tried to save it. Stick it under a fair light for 18 hours/day and 6 of complete dark. Sprays water gently in your medium(not in the plant, till the first signal of runoffs in the bottom) every 3 days, considering a humidity less than 50% in your place and it's temperature around 25°C.
It's not a recipe for success, just a move I used to try before discard an almost dead clone weeks ago.
It was just a small stem, unfortunately have no image...

For new seedlings I would recommend using a spray bottle to water for the first couple weeks. Its very hard to over water that way. They don't need much.
