(I've never had a compost pile or even know anything about them) But free fertilizer ... hell Im in! Im not rural but that doesnt mean I cant have a pile of some stinky shit in my backyard. It might even keep all the neighborhood kids from hoping my fence when Im out of town to go swimming. :P

Here's what I got outdoor.

5 clones from my MLK4 mother I didn't have room for anywhere else. I put them in the raised bed a month ago...buried up to their top growing shoot. They grew up and started to flower. Now, they're trying to reveg.

The big one is a volunteer. It's something dank from last year that got dusted with a landrace kush male I had. It popped in the middle of March. It's showing preflower pistils, but hasn't tried to bud out. It's veging like crazy. I topped it back the the fourth node and fimmed all the branches. It's going to be a beast. I dont think the raised bed is going to be able to handle all those.

Here’s my first attempt at pollen collecting and chucking. Of 5 seeds grown of Hunza Valley 91 (Skelly “Puck” HP x Chemdog91 bx3) from Lucky Dog, I had 1 really outstanding smelly male that I had to keep and breed with.

Of 4 seeds popped of Booty from Bhodi (Pirate Sweat (Vintage Black Afghani x 88g13hp) x 88g13hp) all 4 were male.

Have 1 really great strong smelling Booty that is densely stacked with male flower clusters that had zero stretch. I’m assuming that’d be a hp leaner. It seems slower to mature and release pollen than the others. Excited to play with this pollen.

The other 3 are all pretty tall but good structure. Might be some of the most vigorously growing/rooting lines I’ve grown yet. Assuming they’re showing pretty strong heirloom afghani characteristics vs hp; thoughts? I think the pollen from these are worth hanging on to anyways.

I’ve been periodically collecting the pollen in jars with a big desiccant pack. Gonna give them another handful of days or so and see how much it looks like they have left before chop and proper storage. I have rooted cuts of all too, just in case.

I happened to have a spare nice White Russian, plus a very frosty and tasty pheno of Lemongrass (Lemon Kush x Gelato) laying around so I figured I’d throw them into the room for a real party. I put them basically underneath the Hunza, but they may have a few seeds from the others too, who knows. Win win in my book.

I intend to do some more specific projects with this pollen and I’m excited to see how the female Hunzas turn out. They look gorgeous and one girl #5 is really starting to smell strong, like burning grapefruit, onions, and rubber from a tennis ball.. So that has my attention.

The best female HV91 will get some of the male’s goods and then I’ll have what, an inbred line? No lie, I think I’m more excited for these seeds than those in my most recent seed purchase that is full of goodies; just something about making them yourself and seeing what comes out. Can’t wait!

Well, I made a deal with a store that just might keep me going for at least this year. I like the idea of being able to move forward with the projects I’ve started and continue growing the good stuff I’ve found, knowing that I’m going to sell X amount every month. It’s a pride-swallowing price, but the quantity will keep me afloat enough to see some of this out. I feel like I’m finally starting to catch on pretty well with where I’m at and what I’m working with. Now it’s time to reverse the down-swing I was on anticipating closing the grow and take lots of cuts!

Bob Ross from DNA/ Crockett FF is a definite winner. Have 22 cuts of Bob Ross to be potted up this week, plus 40 cuts of SAGE.

I’m glad word is really getting out and around about the outside money coming in and the product going out. This entire thing should be run BY Oklahomans, FOR Oklahomans.

Talked to a store owner the other day about an Asian grower from Oregon that moved down here with elite cuts and is producing a lot of decent product. Said he doesn’t even smoke! I was like uhhh what? Why any purchasing manager would even consider buying from sources like that, while the good ole local boys are struggling, is beyond me.

I hope it does work itself out and self-regulate. Surely consumers will catch on and get more picky about where their product comes from, but low prices and hype just have a way with people..

What was started as a Compassionate Care movement lacks the most important word now that it has been enacted. It's only too sad that the only compassion or loyalty for that matter that most people have is to themselves. Maybe an Oklahoma Commercial Growers Association (if there isnt one already) should be started with the purpose of protecting the local grower's resources and territory. The state is finally stepping in and eradicating some of these weeds that have snuck in and used loopholes (and some that dont play by the rules) in the law to steal from Oklahomans. Maybe they need some help?

With a free market and almost no barriers to entry your market is not going to improve much. Sure there will be a race to the bottom and some inefficient producers will get squeezed out and there will always be a space for well branded product, craft cannabis if you will.

Waiting for some purchasing manager to stop buying elite weed because the grower doesn't smoke or isn't a good ol' boy is pie in the sky my friend.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick and please don't shoot the messenger. At least don't kill me before I get a chance to come down there in a few weeks and drop some cash on some Okie grown. :bigjoint:

Oh trust me, this a lesson I’m learning firsthand with a fair chunk of change and a lot of energy and time invested into this and I’m beginning to understand what I’m up against. I have no shame in throwing in the towel if it’s just not worth it; I was there most of last month. Pretty rough feeling. But this deal gives me a second wind to continue growing and doing something I love on a larger scale than I could otherwise. I’m in a position to offer some pretty good product, but if the price drops much lower, then I’m definitely out; just literally isn’t worth my time and effort at a certain point. I know my place in this market and I know the volatility; I really make the effort to be driven by facts and reality and less on emotion, so it is what it is, albeit quite unfortunate and disappointing that we let this happen to our state situation. Money sure has a way.

I feel for you man and I hope it turns out ok. What's going on now in OK also happened to a lot of the OG's out west. I mean the people that created and curated and fought the law/paid with jail time probably aren't the folks that will win their glut war either. It's a shame but you hit the nail on the head, money sure has a way.

You do have one thing going for you though. If you truly love growing maybe that's enough incentive to figure out h formula. I mean is anyone down there only selling big ass buds? All I ever usually see isa bunch of prepackaged popcorn. Sell only the colas, market them under the name big ass buds. each bag would weigh what that bud weighs. You'd be blowing people away with 1/4 to half ounce buds (or bigger) and people will be buying that shit for a premium and like it's show and tell time for their buddies.

Good luck!

Thanks. And I agree about the popcorn. Had a lot of mine do it too before realizing how much the grower can prevent it. Might be on to something
about having nice big buds pre-packed. At the same time tho, lot of people want cheap here, so you can have the nicest product out there and it may not move well at an accordingly high price point. Kinda at the mercy of the bottom dollar. However, that doesn’t sway me at all from growing the absolute best I can for both my tastes, and what I feel would make an effective product for my community, and selling it at a reasonable price. I can’t do it for free though! I feel if I’m putting in the time and research to bring a solid product to the table, I’d like to be compensated accordingly. I hope the small growers can survive and thrive at some point and bring more diversity to the market.

I already have a lot of irons in the fire, but hell I just couldn’t resist digging into some AKBB stuff from my most recent purchase. Wanna pop everything I bought, but I can only do so much..0BA5CFA9-DE49-44FE-863B-5D548EA30095.jpeg

You in OK? Really interested to see how it does for you. Have you grown it before?

Listening to the AKBB potcast while mixing soil and they’ve been on my mind anyways, so I decided I might as well go ahead and pop some. Also popped 5 from a freebie pack Kali mist x A1. Finally getting some solid lines to play with.
