Leaving town for 4 days. What to do with plants?

Hi all...I have four Alien Vs Triangle autos that are 8 weeks. They are healthy and growing in 3 gallon plastic pots with FFOF. I water by hand. I have to leave town for 4 days. I'm thinking of drenching them before I leave and putting lights on 12/12 instead of 24/0 where they are now. My thinking is in 12/12 they will use up less water.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks..

Prick a small hole in the bottom of a large container or bottle, fill with water and some feed, dig neck into soil. McGyver, I know... but if you have no time to order a drip this will help for couple of days. If hole too big, plug with something or make pinhole smaller....

12/12 will kick them into flowering mode....4 straight days of it are enough to start the process. if you put them on 12/12 then try to go back to 20/4 or 24/0 they have a high likelihood of revegging, even though they never actually started to grow any buds yet.
2 liter bottles with pinholes set in the containers will help, as will covering the tops of your pots, but you want to get them uncovered as quick as you can when you get back, covered wet soil is a prime breeding ground for mold and mildew, and you don't want anything to do with either one
4 days isnt the end of the world, unless you are using very small pots. water them good, put a 2 liter bottle of water with a pinhole in it on top of the soil by the base of the plant, and they should survive for 4 days with no problem. oh, and put the cap back on the bottle, then put a pinhole at the top of the bottle close to the cap. this will slow down the drip rate, and make the bottle take at least 24-36 hours to drip out

Put an aquarium pump + plastic tubing in your feed water, connect that to a digital timer and let it run into your plant pots whenever you want them to be watered. You can connect multiple pots to this system by punching holes in the plastic tubing. Calculate how much water per minute gets transferred beforehand so you know how long your timer should run.

Get a big saucer and a appropriate size size bottle/container, cut a small slot down the rim 2/4mm.
Ah wait... A pictures worth a 1000 words...

Cut the slot to height you want to maintain, when the water goes below the slot it lets in air to refill then closes again once the level rises.
