Not sure why some people get so worked up about a little watered down urine as fertilizer. Every day, growers here are fertilizing with insect frass, chicken manure, cow manure, bat guano, seabird guano... Shit, shit, shit and more shit.

Where do they think it comes from? The manure farm? Nooooo. With the possible exception of earth worm castings, it's some poor guy in the coop, the barn, the cave or under the pier with a shovel.

Someone bags it up, gives it a good marketing name, slaps a pretty label on the package and all of a sudden it's Magically Delicious? Damn, I never would have guessed seagulls shat Lucky Charms.

Eat hemp seeds (nuts), and drink hemp milk. Full of essential nutrients. Then, use your diluted urine on your outdoor plants. (Indoors the piss stench is unbearable). What a wonderful cycle.

I've only used it once in an emergency. Fed my girls some aerated compost tea and within two days saw signs of chlorosis. I figured my media was just getting used up. Urea is super fast acting and I grow in soil with organic amendments soooo... I pH'ed my next compost tea and found it was super alkaline. The additional nitrogen as well as the acidifaction likely saved my plants.

I'll admit it kinda creeps me out (just an irrational emotional reaction) but I think I'm going to have to try it on my Kale. Fast acting, high N fertilizer should be great for green leafy vegetables.

Our local farmers sometimes use a pig / chicken shit mix that has an --- aroma. Doesn't stop me from picking up a few baskets of corn at the roadside stand.

I'm blessed to live close to some great, local owned produce farms; seems like the stands have better quality and better prices than the stores on average.
edit - I catch my own fish too - even though I know they fuck in the water.

Sure. Large scale agriculture has to select for genetics that will survive sometimes months of refrigeration as well as the handling that gets their product to your grocery store shelves. The local guys can select genetics for crazy ass stuff like flavor !

I use urine also. I just posted a thread on it. I dilute it a little more to prevent sodium buildup but ur definitely on the right track. I built my soil and compost outside in my regular garden on the foundation of urine.

hi good question human piss but must come from someone thats healthy and not on medication. i mix at 100ml urine to 900ml of rainwater and i use it because on a npk ratio is around 10:2:4 use once and dispose of as after 8-9 hours it turns into ammonia and must be used as soon as mixing. why i use because im poor as f@#k and works just as good as any store brought fert ive ever brought from a grow shop

Urine is stored for much longer for use on crops for research. Youre correct in that it converts to ammonia if it is open to air but stored in a container it lasts for quite a while. Studies show as you said that urine provides equal results to store bought chemical fertilizers. Science is magic folks. Keep peeing into bottles and forget the haters!!!

Nobody is hating. We just aren't interested in collecting pee and storing it in the refrigerator. You're right that urine can be used. It's been used for a very long time. It's nothing new. If you're happy using it then keep using it. I'm just not going to do it. I'm not concerned about any harm to the plants or it affecting the taste/final product. I just have an aversion to handling bodily fluids. That's what toilets are for.

I once quit a job because they wanted me to clean the public restrooms. I walked into the bathroom, looked at the row of urinals and toilet stalls. Turned around and walked out. I quit the job on the spot.

Youre so right. I think most of the argument comes from folks that prefer to buy chemical fertilizers because any organic grower would have to look in the mirror and come to jesus over the fact that their plant is fueled on animal carcasses and waste. Believe it or not i grow other things besides cannabis. Lol.
