interesting technique. Have you tried the sticky traps before?

I echo the mosquito dunks, haven't had gnats since I started applying once every couple of months. A little goes a long way for me. I bought big (30?) pack a year ago and still have have over half the dunks left. I don't recall it being very expensive unless prices have gone up for some reason.

You guys are really selling me on the dunks. I'm gonna pick up a pack and keep it even if the hydrogen peroxide works. sounds like it would be a nice addition to the IPM.

Also, shout out to the apple cider vinegar - it's killing way more adult gnats than the sticky traps.

Yep. People like to assume primitive people are dumb but they were quite intelligent. Just didn't have books and schools.

For adults add a teaspoon of sugar and some warm water to the ACV/dish soap. That will attract everything. Gnats are a symptom of low bio life in soil. In no till we deal with gnats when we first mix up soil. But after a cycle or 2 the bio life balances out. Pretty normal.

Update.

Hydrogen Peroxide does not work as a long-term solution. It dialed down the gnats significantly for some time but it appears a new set has spawned. I read that the gnat larvae life cycle was 3 - 4 days so I watered with hydrogen peroxide one day and without the other. Maybe the regular water reached some larvae and the hydrogen peroxide didn't. Pretty bummed about this.

Will be giving the ladies a compost tea to try and bring back some microbial health and start using mosquito dunks.

(1; assume your media has fungus gnats in it...treat it accordingly)

Anyway:
-Wettable Sulfur (everywhere; medium/root zone, vegetation, trays/pots if you want)
-Bait mix (Water, apple cider vineger, sugar, some liquid soap/other surfactant)
-Sticky traps (yellow)
-H2O2 (additionally, this "breaks down" the decaying root/plant/organic matter that the larvae feed on". it's not just to 'kill' the larvae via contact.
-BT (the active ingredient in "mosquito dunks").

You should/need to do a combo of, say, three or more of these things. And you need to do it/keep it up for 30+ days to fully disrupt their entire life cycle.

Also, manually:
-You can suck them up with a shop vac after gently shaking the plant. Or spray'em with a mix of ISO-P and water.

@DoubleAtotheRON The "pluggable" brand usb microscope on ebay is a decent one, takes high def pics and video, built in led. If you have android phone you can connect it to that with a usb-OTG cable/adapter. Valuable tool.

Kill. All. Those. Fuckers.

Gnat larvae soup. BTi concentrate from dunks.
(Dunks are super expensive in Canada. Why....I dunno)

Crush up a couple dunks.
Funnel the crumble it into a gallon jug filled with your normal nute solution.
Shake it like mad. Let it sit. Repeat over a couple hours.

Shake it up and slowly... Pour it thru paper towel to strain out the solids.

Add to res. (Check ph.) And top feed as usual. Stickies for flyers.

2 weeks max. No more gnats.

When I get to the other computer and my bookmarks I'll share a site that is good for several IPM products, including mosquito bits (like smaller granules of mosquito dunks), for decent prices. I found I didn't need to go that route (BT).

I like your "concentrate" method though. Nice.
I might look into this, just for the sake of knowing about it (video will start at specific time where it's mentioned):
