Hi, i've been growing for a few years now and ive encountered an issue that is new to me. I've planted 3 seeds directly in soil, as i always do, and usually i dont have any problems. Now there seems to be an issue. I planted 9 days ago, the taproot came out and grew in the right direction, however it's now above the soil, the seedcoat is still attached and all 3 roots are turning red, which i cant seem to find any info on online. Im quite concerned since this never happened to me and i have no idea what to do.

Any ideas?

so the plants roots have grown out the bottom of the pot, what about the seedling head, has that opened up?

just keep dripping a droplet or two of water on it at regular intavals.i guess you could wet some cotton wool and place it over the seed head for a day or two. might work

I'm thinking you're seedling caught a chill in dry air. If so that sucker is dead.. I had this happen recently during a cold snap. Had that same redness. I'd double check your temps and humidity. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Quick update: One of them has just shed the seedcoat completely, the other 2 are opening up a bit more. Pretty confident the first one will grow nicely now without further issues, fingers crossed the others do as well. I'll keep misting them regularly, thanks for the advice guys :)

So, all 3 have now lost their coat, the cotyledons came unstuck, but 2 of them are not upwards at all. I figured i could prop up one of them without doing too much harm, but no idea how to handle the other one since it basically curled up completely. Any ideas, i feel like i got close to saving 3 complete failures and i dont wanna give up now hehe
