The HLG web site says it should be run on a 12 hours cycle and it plugs into your main light so it just runs when lights on through flower.

"Waterproof 30 watts UVA LED BAR designed for 12 hr cycle in a 4x4 or 5x5 sqft space. Passive cooled, 24 inches with built in power supply. Bolt on installation for any HLG 550 and HLG 600 Kit.
Contains UVA LED 365nm + 385nm"
I was talking with @LEDTonic - Daniel in another thread and he suggested that the hours be kept at a few a day. I copied this from the thread:

"The growers I've talked to about UV usually only use the UV for 30-60 minutes a day. I don't dare to say if this is best practice but that should give you an idea at least. I'm sure there are growers on this forum who are more knowledgeable about UV than I am."

He also stated that the spectrum would be similar with LED or T5. I think the plants would need to get used to it but it seems you used it 12 hours with no problems so maybe the LED's are different. Hard to find useful info on them.

What height are you guys hanging your HLG bars at?
They told me 24inches away,if you have them mounted to one of their fixtures you’ll be around that height anyways.
I threw them up on the sides of my tent around 20-24 inches.

uva is mild so it can be ran 12 hours a day. When you start adding UVB and UVC they are very harsh and should be ran shorter periods.
I only run my Hlg UVA boosters for 2.5-3 hours a day and I try to have it turn on early in the day 10am-1pm. In nature that’s the highest uv is happening.

that being said I’ve watched a lot.Dr. Bugbee’s videos and he states pulsing uv at random times will allow the plants to absorb it and it won’t build up an immunity to it

Yeah I’ve checked out both options already, was seeing if there were anymore out there.

Ive found these 60w options available in 385nm that I’m interested in thanks to @J232

What Voltage is the strips? What your using to power them?

They come with onboard driver? Id try to diy a fix for that. 60w per tray seems like a lot when closish.
It’ll be 120w per 4x4 lol. I can always move 1 to my veg room, or sell a couple locally

I’ll do some testing once they get installed and decide from there.

I’m not a led diy guy but can a dimmer knob be spliced in between the light and driver?

I’m just thinking of how you can splice a control knob into a old in-line fan to control speed

Seriously though terrible information 1/10 score

Let’s just rip my current lighting down and go back in time and start running boards again. Sounds like a great plan, I’ll get right on it.
