Obese people do have a bad qual. of life Hannimal, My dad (I'm adopted) passed at 52yrs. overweight not ext. obese by today's standards,but it led to 3 heart attacks (the 3rd killed him at 52). Couple that w/diabetes brought on by weight issues,hypertension,gout,etc. Now maybe def of quality of life is a issue,I never stated that obese people can't or don't enjoy life or are'nt decent people by any means, just maybe should have used the word longevity instead of quality. What's up Cunning, just went through a extreme level of BS recovering my Email address, My laptop was FN up yest. and I (i'm a serious rookie in tech,just got 1st laptop 2yrs ago,no cell,no wifi in house)ended up rebooting it when I clicked chrome update it fixed it but my Email was gonzo, panicked like a MF cause i'm in a dispute w/amazon over a Gift card bal and all info is there 21 days of absolute BS, forgot password OMG what a FN fiasco, but everything is good now. I too have evolved with my views on weight others carry around with them. But their size limits my involvement with them - no hikes/walks/bike rides/etc, - just food. Lost my next oldest brother 3 days after Christmas 3 years ago at 51. I retired less that six months later. Square meals make round people was his saying. He weighed twice what I do.
I was'nt heavy until the years 12-16, nor is obesity genetic in my heredity, I got serious for one summer and dropped about 30lbs.,never have been overweight ever again, have done weights religiously for 32yrs and have jogged probably 6000 miles,though at 55 w/sz12 ft. I've backed off running because I need my feet for work and running destroys my feet, so I skip rope and ride the bike in place of it. I think people are intimidated to get started losing weight. IMO all it takes is getting through a couple weeks of diet deprivation and the pain of exercising a sedentary body. Once they break through that barrier they can look at the progress and conclude that I'm not as heavy and in better shape than a month ago and so on. After a while when you get used to exercising your body actually craves it, the release of endorphins and feeling of accomplishment make for a positive vibe and wards off depression. That's my take on how it works, if people that are overweight could just hang tough and break through that initial barrier, they could transform themselves, as many ex overweight people certainly have done.ccguns
