I'm with you. I started with bottled synthetics, then transitioned to a sort of "faux-ganics", and now I just recycle my soil and throw some tea at it here and there.

I've been using the happy frog fert since back when it was also sold under "peace of mind" brand. There's NOTHING wrong with it if you understand what it is, which is an organic top feed for those times your soil might run out of steam before the plant is done.

Which brings me to my next point...sometimes soil isn't able to keep up with N requirements late into flower. What the hell is all this crap in this thread about "slow release N is bad for cannabis"? Half the battle for me while dialing in my water only soil mix was making sure the plant was able to get the N it needs midway through flower.

I have been inactive on these boards for quite some time but I REALLY hate to think that the nonsense adage of "N is bad for flower" is still persisting, along with the bs about the fert in question.

The top dress stuff isn't ideal, but it's not Satan for fuck sake, and neither is N in flower.

I mix mine in my soil along w a few other things...like for a basic cheap soil that works I use half jump start and half fruit and flower ..about a cup or so per 8 or 9 gal.... and at the rate I add rabbit poop , castings, and compost. I hit it with a few T's microbial and nutrient and they grow like Champs

That's basically my organic plan this yr. Minus the rabbit poop castings and minerals

I have never really composted a bunch of rabbit poop..no need to..but I guess some test have been Ran w it in composted vs composted..and I guess.. which makes sense..it's way better composted.. kelp compliments it very well imo....so if u could I would get some Rabbit shit ..even if u don't compost it...cause it rocks...but I'd compost it w some kelp meal..a few other meals...some of Ur hf product and use it as 1/3 of Ur mix.....I actually use more aeration than anything in my mix and I'm using rotted wood made w rabbit poop and kelp tea for a week or two... Should be really good for my plants that are way back in the boondocks....I'll prob toss some seabird guano in too

I've used Tomato and Veg and Fruit and Flower with good results.

I honestly wasn't concerned about the writing on the bag. I was more concerned about the ingredients. It's high in nitrogen and it has a bunch of ingredients that I want in my soil. I think they call this "acid loving plants" because it's higher in nitrogen. But also Cannabis loves acid. And a person I know treats her cannabis more like a rose bush than a tomato plant. But personally, I just like the ingredients.

I understand the fear of time-release because it can contribute unknowns. But if you account for it, I don't see the problem.

My plant started to yellow at week five of flower. I wasn't top-dressing because I knew my soil was loaded with N and I had read that weed needs less N at flower. I get it, since that kinda happens naturally in nature. But we're not exactly dealing with nature anymore, to some degree--some of us are cultivating phenotypes based on how they perform on indoor grows. My bagseed needed a huge bump of N at stretch time (which also makes sense). I'll be top-dressing with 4-4-4 or compost or EWC every two weeks until the end with that strain.

I'm kinda rambling without much of a point. Maybe the point is to watch the plants more than anything.
