Help with watering scheudle!

This is my first time with Ebb and flood. White widow clones taken from a mother on 10/09/08 and started in the tray exactly 2 weeks after. The Plants in the tray were put in on 10/23/08. My nutes consist of general hydro's Floragro, Florabloom, Floramicro, Florablend, and Floralicious Plus. I maintain a PH. of 6.0 in a 30 gallon tank. The reservoir gets changed out every 7 days and have a constant air stone on in the tank. I am using a 1000 watt HPS bulb with a future brite ballast. I maintain a room temp around 75-80. My foliar spray consist of Dutch Masters penetrator and Liquid light. At the moment my plants get watered every 3 hours a total of 8 times. Is this too much or alright?

All those clones from the same mom? You have some wide variety in height there.

I see you use RW. There is no need to use the little pots of pebbles when using RW. Just go straight in to the larger pots. How big are those larger pots? 8"? The 51/2" ones will work and you can fit more.

As far as the watering goes they look ok. No need to water during lights off. Better flower soon or they will get too big for your setup

Ya they are all from the same mom. The 3 on the left of the pic are tied down.....(a type of bonzi) therefore 3 of the plants heights are like 6 in. off
I'm using the 8 in. pots.

hey smot.... things look ok ... just a few sugestions... rock wool holds a lot of water if you are going to use it make sure it is above the flood level or root rot can start to set in... your over flow level is way to high for small pots.... i dont use rocks in ebb & flow becacuse of the frequient watering needed ... there ok i just dont use em.... you can transfer in to larger pot at first , you might have to water by hand until the roots nit down to a lower level usually a few days ... water schedule should be set so the pots dry just slightly .. temp plays a big factor in this .. one reason i dont like rocks... there is no media to hold a small amount of water if a pump fails....

How about using some of that tree bark looking thing they just came out with.... its all natural. instead of RW. So next batch i should just get rid of the small nets all together or what? I'm not to worried about a pump failing for i have 3 spares.

whats up Smot! I'll give you 2 cents. It may seem hard to believe but mary can't have to much water. Remember to always allow for the water to completely drain and you could flood every 2 hours for 15 mins if you wanted to, as long as that water is airrated, your good. I'm wondering about your foiler feeding? Don't overdue it! Remember when you foiler feed stomata close and that slows growth so be careful. Watch the ppm on your spray and also the ph. The pebbles are a good idea just so the roots don't get exposed to light. You may have to eventually fill the whole tray with hydroton in order to prevent that but then you won't be able to move em around. I have to of those systems and to be honest, they're just not that effective. Don't get me wrong, they work but they're not efficient. You should start looking into better methods. Thats just my 2 cents.

Pay attention Toast. As long as you have good drainage your good. I wouldn't suggest it but theoreticly its correct. If not how do plants survive in aero??? What about clones in aero, why do they survive?? There are a lot of different ways to grow but overwatering is usually do to poor drainage not actually overwatering.

right on.... while you are corect about drainage.. you are comparing one grow type to another... stick with his smoots grow ... your saying you cant over water .. why not just flood and forget the drain ? ... drainage is the ponit ... rock wool for the most part holds water... stick to his op to debate this .....

You're right about the high jacking thing.

To our point though. I said good drainage! I used 2 3x3 flood tables that are the exact same style as Smoots'. I flooded em, put an air stone in, they were in baskets with rh and I never lost a plant. I do stuff like this just to see how I can kill a plant. Like I said, when in the right conditions, you can't over water but I wouldn't suggest it. You're the one who said I was wrong.

Sorry about this Smoot. Good luck either way. Embrace your bad times and learn from them. Look at it as a good thing. Unless you're a quitter??

cool great one ... i do think he should consider diferent pots ... might help with a few of his issues... smoot ... can give some advice on how i do it .. but not if your good with your op ... great one is right about root damage...
