Which rosin press?

I am happy and supportive of all attempts to find a better way without corporate dictation of processes. Really cheap bastard if I know how it works. I am almost always straight parchment paper of late. I don't sell and I got this as a jar exchange just the other day.

P.S. Careful of pressure on shot glasses. I've shattered half my favorite set. Went to mold for less presses. No glass hazards. silicone cupcake pan and a large socket served me well with a floor jack and some scrap 4x4's to reach the door jambs in the garage. LOL.
Yessir...handful of shotglass shards would not be pleasant...I'm careful lol.

Began with two non stick griddles and a good repurposed furnace thermostat with steel bar stock for weights. Even controlled temps and a low temps. 135F or so.

But your mini is good as I've heard. My biggest hurdle is only pulling 25-30% of quantity at start by weight. 12 cups buds into wash. 2-3 cups on good run of hash. then 10 grams into the press to get 2-4 in full melt.

This hobby gets pretty lengthy if not wanting to waste things. Use those pucks for decarbing and infusing. They hold plenty of goodies. Including the bags. Just more mess and labor. Equal if not superior oils and butters. And the full melts will get your attention. Even the errant green ones.
It's wild to me how much less full melt you're pulling from hash on your press than I am. This is from my last big bubble run, I had a bad blowout when I pressed the Sherbet, but other strains were closer to 70% than 60.

What's your technique? I was using 37 micron bags, and after my blowout a 75 micron bag outside of it. Pressing on a 6 ton press, I was going slooooow near the end, almost 3 and a half minutes on the heat for Kosher Kush, but I didn't have a blowout. 190f heat.

I'm also bagging everything from 25-160 microns on its own, and calling stuff in my 160 micron catch bag "farmer's grade". Really surprised at the return there, but it's noticeably lower quality and strength than the high quality hash.

Wow those are huge returns on bubble hash RadicalRoss !! I have gotten so I can turn out some pretty awesome bubble from my trim...i can't wait to press it!

So my question...20 ton press vs. 6 ton press. Benefit's to either? I can build a HF 20 ton (easily) for less than buying a pre-made 6 ton....I have never pressed before though so IDK if 20 tons is overkill, or what??

So I did wind up building the HF 20 ton with 4 x 7 plates, and I love it so far. I have only used it 4 times so far, and don't even have a proper rig yet, but it is growing on me really fast!

In fact, a friend brought me a cartridge this week, and it tasted gross after vaping rosin. All I could taste was PG/VG and artificial flavoring with undertones of alcohol, and 1 gram was gone in a day. I won't be buying any more of them!!

For most folks, DIY press can fit the bill I think. I built my own 6 ton for $215. Fresh rosin anytime I want.
I use parchment paper, no bags.

3"x5" plates $135
6 ton bench press $80
is it difficult to hook up heating cables and everything I have no knowledge at theese things

Yep, its really easy. Even assembling the press is pretty easy and took me less than 30 minutes.
Now the 30 uses to find the missed things. LOL. None are perfect. And most require a learning curve. I'm still dialing mine.

One sincere tip for all. Use acetone, nail polish remover on a rag to remove all accidents from plates and such while HOT. Just wipe clean. Never EVER scrape plates.

I have this bad boy queued up in my Amazon cart for next time the wife says she wants to spend a bunch of money on some dumb shit. "Sure honey, you don't mind if I spend $400 on a oil press do you?".. She'll look at me head cocked half-sideways, and agree so she can get her dumb shit unencumbered. Pay to play. Ass, gas, or grass.. no one rides for free.Screenshot (99).png

Cheaper than mine. And I'm hooked on high grade bubble hash. Pressed to candy bars. No mess or fuss. Beyond the washing drudgery. 004.jpg005.jpg

Iv been looking more into presses and the amazon cheap versions scared me a little with the material they use, do they last long without problems in anyone's experience here? Also, I am thinking about getting a Juice Box 2-ton or Nugsmasher Mini. The nugsmasher mini seems too small of a plate I assume it would get pretty fucking annoying having to puck and lose all that small amount of rosin that gets stuck in the puck. Do you guys think Juice Box is a trustable brand and their products are solid? I cant find any reviews on the web for their 2-ton version. Nugsmasher seems solid all the way around but a little overpriced? And mini has a small plate way too small

I have the nugsmasher for a few years now, it works well for me and has been durable, not that it gets a lot of use but when I pull her out she has always performed well. For the win I prefer Kirklands (Costco brand) parchment paper much better then any others I tried.

have you got the mini version? I would hate to just press 3-4 grams of material every time but many people seem to press a little more with it

I have the mini as well....you can squish up to 7 or 8 grams when prepped well.
Cook pucks down in coconut oil for edibles.
