Do you leave your fans on 24 hours a day?

My exhaust runs most of the time...8" can fan removes 750cfm from the room. Exhausts out the chimney. No carbon filter. Oscillating fan move the air around the room.

you guys who leave your fans on 24/7. do you have them plugged into a contactor? my rcd keeps randomly tripping and not sure if its because im not using a contactor? do forgive me, first time grow :/

You could turn off your fans at at night if you run a dehumidifier, but they use more power than several fans.

yea it does look like a strip plug, its used to help deal with high inductive loads like you get with HID lights, some sort of safety thing i believe, iv heard a few growers using them but not sure if its ideal for a setup as small as mine. but im also getting a lot of people who havnt even heard of them. im so stuck

I just looked it up. I know what those are, but I thought you were using British slang or something. A lot of the time they are use for automation. Why don't you just use a strip plug for fans? They don't take that much juice.

i have been using a strip plug, thats what i firstly started out with, its such a complex situation, i got rid of the first strip plug because it was cheap so i thought that might have been the problem, my light wouldnt even come on at first, apparently my electric isnt strong enough to deal with its inductive load, soon as i turned it on, it just tripped my electrics instantly, i got a new light, got a new strip plug which is hardware and cost a bomb. i wasnt even using a timer at this point because hey, were on lockdown, im in all the time so there was no need for a timer, but in actual fact, this had significance to why my electrics couldnt take the power on, soon as i plugged it into the timer and the timer into the strip plug, it worked, the light stayed on, for about a week, then it started tripping aggain, iv spent a fortune, buying new fans, new lights, strip plugs, the lot! and its still tripping but not when i turn it on, it just trips randomly now, iv been reading about these contactors, not for automation although they do come with built in timers, but just to see if it stops my electrics tripping out. i just need something that will stop this happening. there has to be someone on here whos had this problem

No clue...just recall hearing people before say they can't use anything that pulls high amounts of electricity because they will be found out.

Have you tried running an extension cord to different outlets in your house or unplugging things you don't need plugged in all the time?

If you're pulling too many watts then it is what it is. The tripping is preventing your house from burning down. If the spike is kicking the breaker then you could use a timer to offset the surge, but if you tried that and you still have a problem then you're probably screwed. All you can really do is run some new wire. If you get the fans off of the circuit then you'll probably be fine. I wouldn't worry about fans causing any fire concerns with 12 or 14 wire extension chord.

absolutely, iv beeen mad at it for two weeks now, tried absoluetly everything, currently looking at led screw in light bulbs, thinking of whipping the top of my tent off and see if it grows under that. :D god knows

thankyou, i am using a timer with the light to offset that surge, pretty sure im not overloading, everything is low wattage, i will try running it without the fans tonight, just bought a rechargable cordless one for tonight so ill see if that makes any difference, thanks again
