Clone in water cup (is it root or mold)?

Hi all,

my first time taking a clone and I read online you can simply PH some water and chuck your clone in that for a few weeks to root.
(I did also read having it oxygenated is preferable but not essential).
Anyway I’m about a week in roughly since taking the cut, do I have a problem here is that mold forming about the base or is this normal and the beginning of rooting? 69517579-A1A7-46CB-A4E7-818008B90D66.jpeg

I've seen that brown colour at the bottom it isn't mould, it's normal for that to be happen.
Give it time, if you look closely at the stem bottom you'll see a warty type surface forming when it's ready to root.

Thank you but I meant just above the brown colour at the bottom, there is a white fuzz slightly above this
Ah right I see what you mean now, that's not unusual ime with bubble cloners, idk what the cause is but it ime it doesn't stop them rooting.

Edit... A few drops of bleach works well.

I’ve got some of that in the house so I’ll put a few drops in tonight

If your clone is going bad, pull it out and gently touch the end. If something like snot follows your finger off the cutting, it's going bad.
As stated, change the water frequently.
