Tap water high ppm.

Hello people.

I am waiting on an RO machine to be delivered but it could take up to 2 weeks.

My tap water reads 200ppm so I'm just curious what the best way to feed would be.

I've been advised to try 800ppm for my autoflowers because they were showing signs of deficiency but if I use half strength bloom like recommended it takes my ppm to around 900 and thats without and micro or calmag.

What would be the best thing to do until my RO machine arrives. Should I just use calmag and make my ppm up to 800 using the bloom.

What nutrients are you using, and are you growing in soil or coco? I never go above 700 ppm and my tapwater is around 180 ppm to start. I grow with Maxibloom though, which has plenty of calcium and magnesium in it already-a lot of formulas are lacking in those. Hard to say without looking at a water analysis, but you might not need any extra calcium at all, might just need a little epsom salts. Try about 1/4 teaspoon epsom per gallon, if you have mag deficiencies, then drop it to 1/4 teaspoon per 2 or 3 gallon for maintenance. You probably don't need those high ppms, just the right nutrients.

Dilute your tap with spring or distilled or RO.

You could always go to a store and pick up a couple gallons of distilled water if you’re really worried about it

Yeah I've been slightly confused about nutrients lol

I grow in coco yeah and I'm using ionic nutes. Personally won't use them again but yeah.

The plant looks like it has nitrogen deficiency but its probably cos I flushed last week cos of build up.

Wqsnt sure if I should still be using cal mag or just switch to bloom only.

Currently have calmag. Micro and ionic grow and ionic bloom.

Did you soak and rinse your coco before using it? I don’t care if it says it’s not needed.

Another thing I feel like I may have done wrong.

I'm using something called tripart micro and its a 3 part nutrient. However i don't have the grow and bloom for that. Should I just leave that out completely. I dont even know what it is lol I was just going by a set schedule I seen

I've done a bit of research and I think its a calmag deficiency.

Should I be using calmag at full strength with autoflowers. I know its hard without pictures but I'm not home atm. But some leaves on lower growth are yellowing and have bronze patches. And a couple have really red/purple stems

not sure about with coco, but for DWC, all you need is Ionic Bloom from start to finish. cal/mg if needed.

Only thing thats playing my head is that I flushed it last week because of build up from not having enough run off. So I dunno if I'm better off waiting a few days. But then on the other hand i don't want to leave it for it to get worse lol. The runoff ppm and ph is fine

i'm not a big fan of coco but did you flush with plain water or with light nute solution? if you need to flush, always with light nutes.

and then normal feedings should be to about 20% runoff (to reduce salt buildup)

these other guys/gals that grow in coco can help you more.

I flushed with ph water and then fed with a light feed that night.

But thats good to know for the future thanks. Yeah I've made a thread about it now so hopefully someone knows exactly what it is
