stupid to go 24 hours of light?

18/6 saves electricity and wear and tear on your bulb and gear. Some people make the trade because they feel the minimal added growth you get by going up to 24/0 isn't worth it.

the lights burn out quicker when turned on and off repeatedly... the hour life is a reading the manufacturer gets from bulbs they turn on once and never turn off.. it runs until it till it burns out...

it also depends on the light you're using. i know a lot of people that use mh and hps bulbs and use 18/6 because running the lights 24 hours causes it to get to hot in the grow area. so they'll run the lights during the night hours and give it darkness during the hottest part of the day

I don't believe the 24/0 hurts the plants. You're giving the plant what it wants. light. Also 6 hours is a huge amount of time.I slept for 8 hours when I woke up my sprouts grew .5". Times the 8 hours by 3 since there's 24 hours that 1.5" of growth a day.

photosynthisis, the plant converts sunlight into sugars during the day, puts those sugars into action at night. Plants do most of their growing during the dark phase.

I'm going with 24 hours a day with my 600 watt HPS. It's winter here and I need to heat the house anyway ;)
Dude, I was thinking the same shit! Its gonna be in a cab in the closet and if I keep the closet door open at night when the lights are on, should be nice and cozy in the room! lol

plants grow both in the dark and in the light. When a plant is flowering it stores up its energy during the day, and at night is when it does most of its growing, but during veg, its growing all the time, wether its light or not. I have a 600w MH that ive been running nonstop for 3 n a half weeks now, n my plants are thanking me for it man. Theyre fuckin beautiful, straight up. 24 hours of light is beneficial IMHO. turning the lamp off for 6 hours dont make a damn bit of a difference, and youll only save like 5 bucks a month on your electric bill.

n LOL @ you guys sayin that youll use your growrooms for heat during the winter -- this is actually a realistic fuckin idea for that one particular room. Fuckin temps outside are like 30 degrees, but its fuckin 82 degrees in the room im growin in, allllll the fuckin time. Sometimes its TOO hot in there man - id rather run my heater and be able to control my temps in the apartment. If you eat/sleep/shit/live in your growroom though and the other rooms dont make a shit of difference to ya, you could probably save mad money on your heating bill if you just turn that fucker off n use the heat from your growlamp, lol. HELL, id even be inclined to think that if you live in a small enough space, and leave the door to your growroom open all the time, you could probably spread that heat around through your whole apartment, and not have to worry about heating ever again in the winter, lol.

Yeah, I don't see anything in the bible that says they do most of their growing in the dark. He was probably high or something.

Kinda like the ghetto method of turning on the oven to heat the house. But the heat from the 400hps doesn't give off deadly gas! lol

Yeah it's 6" ducting with one 6" inline fan. Temperature stays around 27 with the house being around 24. The cool tube helps alot I also have the grow tent venting through the top with a 6" inline fan that pushes the vented air through a 6"x12" carbon scrubber. My humidity during the flowering has been somewhere between 32-44. I also keep lots of air moving through. I use I oscilating fan and two stationary.. :)

Plants do not do most of their growing at night. I veg using 24 lighting because it will save me 3-5 days of time in total veg time over the 18/6 setup. If I were using soil the 24 light would save me 7-10 days of veg time vs 18/6. Plants grow just fine under constant light and overall 24 lighting will grow the plant a little bit bigger in the same amount of time.

I have done it both ways many times, the 24 light always outgrows the 18/6 plants. Period.

He is a she and look up photosynthisis for yourself. You can't fight millions of years of evolution. Well you can, but you won't win.

I've been growing all sorts of things for close to 25 years now, this isn't my first time with trying to grow something. I live in farm land, I've taken a whole lot of agriculture classes, I even placed 4th out of the entire state in crop judging, I know what I'm talking about.
