I used Spinosad Soap and it worked to kill them. I also did the less watering method to dry out the soil at the same time. Hope this helps.
I have been spraying the SOIL pretty good, I have not been foliar spraying the BTI product, but as another friend said to me yesterday I am probably not drenching enough and getting it deep enough to kill everybody off. I plan to drench tonight in this other product I have called Big time exterminator which says it kills the fungus gnat larvae, among many other pests, it is all natural citric acid and cinnamon and peppermint oils. Then maybe hit it tomorrow or the next day with another round of BTI but go a bit heavier- as in drenching it like you and my friend suggest. Appreciate taking time to reply. Peace.....Jimmy,
While I haven't heard of the product your using, if it has bti, it will get rid of your fungus gnats. But, like Mountainfarmer said above, you must drench the soil in the bti solution for it to be effective. The larvae need to eat the bti for it to kill them. Only using it as a folar spray for your plants will not be effective in killing the gnats.
how did the BT Exterminator work for you? Just picked some up myself!I have been spraying the SOIL pretty good, I have not been foliar spraying the BTI product, but as another friend said to me yesterday I am probably not drenching enough and getting it deep enough to kill everybody off. sorry for late reply. BTE did not work very well for me at all from what I could tell. Would be curious to know how it is working for you? I went to the big guns this round when I noticed that I was getting them again (they came in on plants I got from my friend). Used azamax and it seems to have done a very very good job. Going to use one more time in my second week of flower. The other things I used only seemed to work very marginally or perhaps some not at all. Spraying with green clean or BTE or Flying skull seemed just ok for a few days but not going to rectify the problem....esp. if it is a decent infestation. More a preventative than anything else, but will indeed kill off adults if they get sprayed.how did the BT Exterminator work for you? Just picked some up myself!
Not sure about your bugs or any damage they may be doing but by the looks of your plants you've got nothing to worry about ...they look great!! From what I understand gnats don't really do much damage to your plants...unless it gets way out of hand and the larvae starts to play hell in your soil.I picked up a 60-120x pocket scope and never saw anything. I continue to treat for atleast prevention, using BTE starting with 3 times a week and going to continue 1x a week for abit. I also decided to go with a spray and drench of Sulfer I heard was a good idea. I just picked up a usb microscope with better magnification, so tomorrow going to give all my plants a closer look. I continue to find a few leaves here and there torn and the new growth just seemed off to me. Hoping I was just being paranoid and it just results in me having really good IPM in place.guess I will know tomorrow. Oh one other thing I also used some of that Diatomaceous Earth... here are some picture of them from earlier tonight after installing another 315 cmh
yea, I was just being a paranoid new grower! but it worked out, cause I did not put much thought into IPM before that. But now I check them regularly and use BTE for prevention! I would like to build up a predatory pest once I get a perpetual grow going, I would think that would be the most efficient form of IPM!Not sure about your bugs or any damage they may be doing but by the looks of your plants you've got nothing to worry about ...they look great!!
