Uc roots isn't snake oil because it works fucking great
Snake oil is pretty much just a placebo
UC Roots is snake oil because you get exactly the same results with regular bleach for pennies per dosage. Prove me wrong lol! :hump:

You can get hypochlorous acid more concentrated without the fancy label FYI if you really want to use it! Relabeling and diluting cheap chemical compounds is how manufacturers make their profit.

They make their profit because most people doesn't have any understanding about chemistry and how marketing works.

We use oxidizers and minerals in a wide range of industries and markets. People are free to pay hundreds of dollars for water if they want to.

I save my money, plants doesn't care if the chlorine comes from bleach or fancy schmancy "UC Roots", they do the SAME thing at the end of the day. The "big bad sodium" argument is retarded, sodium aids in plant metabolism at the right dosage.

It's used for sanitation like other chlorine based products. Here's one example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hypochlorous-Acid-Water-HOCL-500ppm-Disinfectant-DOD-1-gallon

Bleach is better at sterilizing and keeping nasties away. Hypochlorous acid has terrible shelf life compared to sodium hypochlorite. Pool Shock (calcium hypochlorite) literally last for decades.

It's also a very unstable compound and has very short residual effect compare to regular bleach or Pool Shock.

Cool, thanks man. I believe all oxidizers are unstable and that's why they work so well. I'm gonna get some and try it, I just don't like the shelf life of it.

Agreed... it's a pretty minimal dosage of sodium i believe though?

You would be surprised how high amount of sodium Cannabis can tolerate without showing any signs of deficiencies. The small amount added with bleach is beneficial if anything.

Bought Pool Shock a couple of years ago. Tried it for a couple of runs, didnt like the results. I personally always had better results with bleach.

That being said I've done the whole beneficial deal with ewc teas successfully in hydro with chiller many years back, had about two years without any problems, suddenly I was hit with dreaded root slime.

Found this site and old Fatman's posts about running hydro sterile. This was somewhere around 2012. Never looked back and all my best runs have been sterile with either bleach or Pool Shock.

I had to use pool shock once. I was lucky and caught rot developing. I shocked it and it stopped it in its tracks. Then I started using hydroguard as a preventative, and I haven't had a problem since.

Its definitely good stuff, but you definitely pay for that good stuff. I'll keep using sts until prices hopefully come down.

Edit: that being said, if you can get uc roots, get it.

Its really not that expensive for what you get. Phenomenal clean product, great results, great end product.
$35 a gallon if you buy 5g
Treats over 6,250 gallons of nutrient solution.
About $0.50 - $0.60 per rez change for me
