I had 2 bag seeds down that I thought were going to die (bad start lol.) So I ordered seeds for the 1st time. Went with Neptune. Gas reaper genetics- LemonStar. Super excited to see how it goes.
Bought a spider farmer light to upgrade from my blurple! The bagseeds are still growing, so looks like I'll be running two setups!
Hopefully, I won't throw it all down the drain....lol and if I do....just try again!

I’ve started using coffee filters instead of paper towels, they are smoother and more likely to not have taproot(s) stick, seems to be a better germination rate too.

Yea, that's what I usually do. However, my success rate with germination isn't the best (but always used bagseeds.)
I didn't know for sure if my failures were due to bad seeds or how I was doing things, so when I bought these I was worried to fuck em up....so I changed up how I was trying to germinate Lol

Yeah I'm only speculating but I'd imagine bagseed to have a lower germination rate. Just from the fact they weren't created on purpose. Some may look ok but be underdeveloped and not germinate.

Breeders seeds are created intentionally and should be quality seeds.

Never had a problem germinating (good) seeds directly in medium. About 1.5cm - 2cm into the soil, keeping it always moist. Watering slowly in a circle. My advice is, if you're more comfortable germinating seeds "like mother nature intended" then go for it. Like @twentyeight.threefive said, you shouldn't run into problems with proper bred quality beans. Maybe leave the wet paper towel and the glass of water methods for when you want to grow bag seed. Or better yet, once you found a bag seed whose phenos you like, keep her as you mother plant and take clones off it. And only germinate quality bred seeds you buy online

I appreciate the advice! I'm excited to get my second closet up and going with the new light. It came in yesterday!
Now that I will have 2 areas, I can use the 2 bag seeds I have down now as mother plants in the future.

So when I left for my mom's, I still had 2 of them waiting to germinate (figured they wouldn't,) but hubby checked and we have triplets!
He was worried about the helmet, so took it off and is worried he may have damaged it. We will see!
I should go home this weekend. I was hoping they could stay in the pellets all week, but w the way they r growing, I might have to get him to change it another larger temporary container until they get a little stronger.

So my hubby split her first set of leaves when he removed that shell....but she has pulled through. Going home tomorrow, so on to the next step this weekend w my 3 girls!
Think it's too early to start feeding?

Couldn't get the last one to focus. This is where we are as of now. Think I overwatered the last one lol, so I let the hubby water em.
Tomorrow will most likely give the 2 bigger ones a low amount of nutes.

I couldn't get my 2 newest girls to focus, but they r running as smoothly has the top 3 so far.....anddddd one of my freebies popped. 6 buckets seems like a lot lol,so will probably give this one away. I have 2 scrogs that will fit my other tent perfectly....so thinking of running 3 under the blurple and the newest 2 under the scrogs and the new light.

Hope everyone is well! I went away for a 4 day weekend, checked ph and ppm before I left (all PHs had to be dropped because they were up to 7.) Dropped em all to around 5.8 and ppms are sitting about 220-240. Tied em down and hoped for the best lmao.
Came back and they were sitting stable. The top pic is before I tied her back down. The bottom two,I tightened the tops before I took pics.
Think I should up the nutes? Starting to see a few preflowers already.
Gotta get some hooks in those lids asap also.
