Bought a cheap electric fan. It does not come on with the timer. Is this something new due to all the electronics. How do I get around it. And I want to get a humidifier and dehumidifier how do I make sure they will work with a timer or controller

I have a few like that myself, I think the switch is digital on the ones that don't turn back on. One with an analog switch will usually work but they are becoming less common. the crane humidifiers,Cheap holmes fans available on amazon turn on and off with my timer. My Vernado tower fan needs to be manually turned back on every time while my lasko & ultrateck fans work with a timer. Most inline fans come with a controller that will switch on and off as needed.

IF you unplug it while it's running, wait a few seconds and plug it back in, if it doesn't restart on it's own then you can't use it on a controller.

Ahh, common sense. Refreshing.
Hopefully they figure out how to make life "plug & play" soon. Otherwise we're screwed in a couple generations...:D
