20201216_191020.jpg 1st pic is Dec 16th - just planted into 30 gal pot - left is cheese fem right is blue buddah. Both started from feminized seeds.
20210102_135947.jpg 2nd pic is Jan 2nd/2020, notice how much bigger the plant on the right is getting? (Either better genetics or first indication of a male plant in veg)
Both of these plants were toppedand then widened using LST
20210122_193753.jpg The plants filled up and got alot taller between Jan 2 and this pic Jan 22.
Switched to the 12/12 cycle on Jan 21st to leave room for a flowering stretch
20210127_193537.jpg cut out confirmed male on Jan 27 after it started to grow pollen sacks. This is the first time I had a fem seed grow a male....
PSA: avoid native seed co.
Anyone know of good seed banks in Canada?
20210203_195736.jpg Feb 3rd(Wed this week) the girls have already started to flower. The buds are already the size of marbles and its only been showing its sex at this point for exactly 1 week. (Been under 12/12 for 13 days)
20210203_195829.jpg 20210203_195758.jpgThe plant seems very happy and has tons of root room - I was told that when yougive the roots nearly unlimited space, it will grow bigger buds because it has a stronger foundation and knows it can support them.

This pic is a size comparison, my hands fit into L gloves, (8" middle finger tip to wrist, 6" tip of thumb to where my pinky meets my palm)

Happy to hear tips, suggestions, personal experiences, etc. What do ya think?! Did I go overkill on the 30 gal pot, or do the plants seem to be growing accordingly? (This is only my 4th grow)

P.s. sorry for the caps on the "I do" I wasnt yelling, it was just my first post/reply on roll it up and I didnt know what I was doing hahaha

That plant isn't even worth the 30 gallons of soil you used to be perfectly honest. You can do that in 5 or 7 gallons easy.

Thought it felt like overkill - but then the plant has seemed to like the space? That being said I ran out of room above spil earlier then I thought, and I would like to find an optimal balance between root grow space and above soil grow space) I also doubled the light intensity (was 1000w led now 2000w led) and changed my nutrient regimen to remi-nutrients. (Use all 7 including micro/calmag according to remi nutrients recommended feed chart)
So it could be those things affecting it as well.
I am going to check out the plant when it's done to see how much the roots filled up thespace.

I appreciate your input.

I am going to save this one, I am constantly reading through dead threads looking for tips
That’s good! More people should. And I wouldn’t be using anymore then 10gallons of soil in a 2x4. Wether it be two 5g’s or three 3g’s or whatever lol 30 is definitely waste.

I am definitely down grading size going into the next grow, so would you recommend 2 5gal for 2 plants in a 4x2?
In your opinion is it worth taking the time to train them to maximize space, or would it be better to let them do their thing for 2-3weeks then switch to 12/12?
(These vegged for about 6-7weeks to train)

They look very small plus the fact you have maybe 400 watts running in your tent you're very low on lighting honestly. They'll never fully utilize that pot. I do 30's every so often and they're mass monsters.

This. Hence why I said I don't believe you. If that root ball filled that whole 30 gallons you would have a tree that doesn't fit in a tent.

A 2000W LED is no good?
I know the true power draw 390W... but I thought modern LEDs were more efficient and figured it was as good replacement for 600W-800W HID?
Tried a 600W HIDand it was just too damn hot even with my in line fan

Lights made by lying companies that call 390 watt lights 2000w cannot be trusted to use quality parts. What make and model is your light?

Work like this needs attention:

Your plant looks amazing! I have so many questions, how long did that take to veg?
I see 2 screens, is that because it outgrew the first?

I see no leaves at all, at what point did you defoliate, how/when do you eliminate all growth on the bottom?

20210203_195926.jpg

I was scared to defoliate too much and scared to cut off middle branches. You expertly pulled off what I botched, any protips?
