Thanks for this thread @Buddy73 -- although I've been growing for years, this is the first time I'll run autos indoors through to a harvest (I did one aborted seed run so far). I'm keeping this thread open and I'm roughly following along with your training methods. I'm on page 3 right now, only day 12 for the oldest of my three sprouts.

There are some substantial differences between our grows: I'm going with three 5 gallon pots, and they are filled with a soil-based mix with simple time-release dry nutes. I'm growing under my DIY COB lighting, and I have a humidity deficiency. It's happening in a 2x4 "box" I threw together, luckily with autos "light leaks" are not an issue.

I'm obviously not as committed a grower as you are, I'm kind of lazy about it. It shows, already my plants are not as healthy as yours (at the same age). Because of that, I'm holding the lighting back at 18/6 until they establish, then I may add an hour until I get up to 20/4. Three 5 gallon pots would normally be pretty crowded for a 2x4, but I'm betting (or being naive) that the simple soil/nute combo, low humidity, and less than 24/0 lighting combined with aggressive training, will hold them back enough that they'll be OK in the end.

I will be interested to see how my 'low tech' lazy approach compares in the end to your really well thought out and beautifully maintained grow. It will no doubt help me to get a better understanding of the price of my prioritizing low effort above ultimate output.

Thanks buddy for following and commenting on my grow! I l bloody love growing and training autoflowers,it’s definitely the best hobby I have undergone up to now and to be honest I am quite new to it as have only been growing for just just over a year before this I used to make my own moonshine and even built my own still from scratch. But the one thing I do before starting any hobby is research the living crap out of it as I hate learning from mistakes and like to get it right the first time round. Anyway what’s ya humidity like ? To low or high?

I also did a bit of research into organic dry amendments for autoflower but it’s a fine line because when they are young seedlings they can still be easily burned and stunted and even if ya top dress after the first two weeks , by the time the nutrients start to break down the plant is growing like mad and it may get to hungry because their is not enough available nutrients for the plants. So I decided to stick with decent synthetic nutrients as I was not confident enough to go the other way, maybe one day. The only thing different I will be doing in the next grow is adding more pearlite to my light mix and mixing in some great white, fastbuds zkittles is my next grow , I will be starting it in the next 2 weeks.
