I do have a tad bit of yellowing going on, simply bc I skipped the last top dressing, and I've just been super busy with everything

Have you had any other yellowing issues like iron chlorosis? I checked the Ph of my tote and it was down to 5.5, but I'm about to use some Fulvic/Humic acid.

Is there a detailed post on the latest design? I tried going through the various journals/threads and saw it's a 50g tote with what looks like 2 pieces of 4 inch drain pipe laid in there with cheese cloth on the ends then the 2 inch fill tube is going in to 1 of them? Vermeculite filling the rest of the floor/res?
I saw the level tube is still in this design, does it also go into the same drain pipe as the fill tube?

I am sure I will have more questions as I reread everything a few more times while taking notes.
We are listing our house so I am between grows and trying to plant the new setup without knowing my space lol

Try using mosquito dunks next time. I had a little trouble running the dunks and EM1 together though, I think that the EM1 out-competed the bacteria used in the dunks, so I used clear water with the dunks for 1 watering. Also, they have mosquito bits instead of dunks and you seem to get more this way. It's like buying in bulk.

I promise I didn’t top water but have a fungus gnat bloom all the same. Got some dunks today so once my res finally dries out I will fill with like a gallon of dunked water. Do y’all think like an 1/8 of a dunk per gallon per og earth box?

I think the dunks in the water is for stopping mosquitos from breeding. Fungus gnat larvae live in the soil, so I'm not sure the dunks in the res would be effective against them.

Check out mosquito "bits." Same thing as the dunks only broken up into granules (or if you already have the dunks just break them up into bits). For fungus gnat control, the directions say to spread on the soil surface and water in. It's worked for me in SIPs, just be careful not to get too much runoff into the res. If you can let the top layer of soil dry out beforehand that would probably help too.

A layer of sand 1" ontop will help 10 fold.This stops the life cycle instantly.Dunk water in the res wont do anything.
No exp with sips though,But for pots sand is the quickest method.

It might have cleared up by now, right? I get gnat flare ups all the time, it seems to be no big deal and I keep the bits on hand now. It will take a few days for the dunks/bits to start working, so don't freak out if they are not cleared out yet. The dunks kill the larvae, so you will see the adults hang around for a bit.

Gnat flare up has subsided a bit. Still waiting on the res to dry out a bit more before adding dunked water. Thank you for your response and time!

I tried dunk water at first,one ring in my water jug broken up after a good soak,so about 3 gallons.I had a lot of gnats so doing this after 2 weeks I didnt notice much difference.For me these rings are$5 ea so 2 a week.If you have only a few gnats this should work,I would crush up 2 of them soak for a day and pour that ontop.
I cant see how using dunk water in the bottom of a SIP being effective, what am i missing?The larva live in the top 1" of soil.

The rings should be broken up and added to your soil when mixing before planting. But the soil will also wick up dunk water if you pour it in the res and are in SIPS. Also, if you're forced to topdress with the bits or broken up rings, make sure you get them under a few inches of soil. They will mold if left on the surface

The dunked water will be wicked up into the soil medium and kill larva. Adults are being handled with yellow stickies.
