Root Rot? Or?

I did it. Temps mostly around 73. Used hydroguard and it worked like a charm.
Sure it works at that temp. It's just not as stable and affordable solution IMO. I've run both way back and I see no benefits with beneficials in hydro. The nutrients is already readily available in the solution, that's the whole idea of running hydroponics in the first place.

Removing all the unstable variables in soil with bacteria culture affecting pH. No slow nutrient release and salt buildup.

There's no medium for bacteria to inoculate in hydroponics you're just overpopulating the nutrient solution with more "good bacteria" than bad.

I agree. The only benefit to bennies in hydro is outnumbering bad bacteria.

Sterile is by no means the only way, is only a way that has worked for many. When done correctly h2o2 has the added benefit of converting to oxygen, adding more d.o. to the res. I wouldn't say it's the best way of growing but if all else fails..... also pool shock works well when done correctly. Beneficial Microbes don't always work especially if you catch the rot too late. Personally I would start with bennies and if that doesn't work, switch to sterile.
Just saying sterile is easier. Just my opinion for dwc

Just wanted to chime in and say I'm sure everyone's methods work for them, and I respect all your opinions. Personally beneficials with no chiller have saved my plant from the brink of death and my res is perfection so I'm gonna rock it till the wheels fall off. My res sits at 75F. If your method works for you, do the same! From what I've read about h2o2, it helps very short term and the conversion to oxygen actually makes the rot come back stronger. If you search long enough, you will find people supporting and attacking every method from both sides. I can only speak on my research and experiences. It's not about finding the "right" way to grow, it's about finding the way that works for you!

Edit: Just as a side note I've heard great things about hydroguard but pound for pound it's not near as concentrated as the GFF by So Ag. This may be a key reason why hydroguard was not able to turn your rot around. As I mentioned the Bacillus A. in the GFF is 4,000 times as concentrated as it is in Orca. Not knocking your experience but more thinking out loud as to why it may have happened.
