315 CMH for seedlings

Can I use my 315 cmh hung up 4 or 5 feet on 2 day old seedlings ? I have nothing else with less power to use on them at the moment. Only other option is an hlg 550 dimmed all the way down.

I've used mine about 40 inches away. The HLG dimmed down would definitely be more efficient if your space doesn't need the heat of the CMH.

A agree. I would use the 550 dimmed. I think it goes as low as 60 watts, but I don't know for sure. Unless he needs the heat though like you said.

I usually run a 200 watt heater but with the CMH on it's not needed. I will end up using same amount of power both ways because the heater is needed with the hlg. I guess I'll stick with the cmh and see what happens.

I love my CMH. My favorite is actually CMH with QB's.

It would if I didn't have to run the heater with it. That thing produces zero heat.

I'm loving mine too just a little worried it's too much light for a young seedling.

@PadawanWarrior Found two led bulbs in my shop and was wondering if they would work for seedlings. They're 5000 lumens 50 watts each. How close to canopy can I hang them ? They put out no heat whatsoever.
