When to top?

I have two 12 day old gg autos and wanna top asap. My last batch without being topped grew pistols around day 25. Do I need to cut after the third node? They just now have two, barely.

I think the earliest you should is when you got like 5 sets of leaves. If there's nothing to redirect energy towards I think it's pointless.
