Ozone use question

So I have a great strain but even with room levels where I wanted them (50% and 85F) and with a fan on them the whole time I still got a bud rot. Normally I would just trash the strain, but I like it so now I'm going to try some ozone treatments. I've used Ozone in my exhaust lines for a very long time. Awesome stuff as an added protecting. No smell escapes it. Obviously I know all about ozone and safety. I've also tested ozone on plants in the past to see what would happen (week of high ozone exposure and you start to see burn marks on leafs). So I'm not worried about the plants having limited exposure. Surely a lot less damage than acid rain.

So do you think if my goal was mold related, would you hit the room with a like a 12 hour shock treatment or 30 minutes over a course of time?

What happened to the RH% when the lights went off? If you were at 50% and 85F and the room cools to 75F you now have around 70% RH. Did you monitor the RH% change at lights out? Usually bud rot happens due to elevated RH% during lights out. So monitoring the RH% during the dark period is critical.
 
Bud rot happens down inside the thick buds so I highly doubt a brief ozone treatment would get down in there to do anything. You would need the ozone present during the whole time the buds are forming to prevent live spores from getting inside the buds. I really don't suspect you will have much success with ozone against bud rot. The solution is lower RH% and good air movement to pull the moisture out of those big buds. I have seen bud rot happen in a room that was "45%" but they didn't have good air movement so if you checked the RH% in the thick canopy the RH% was up in the 60's. Good air movement is critical to prevent these micro climates from forming in your canopy area.
 
Fan and exhaust run 24/7 and tent is in room with 45% set on dehumidifier. I’m adding even more fans but I want extra protection. I think shock treatment every few weeks is where I’m leaning.

as far as lights out, I don’t monitor it because I don’t have nor can I gain more control other than upsizing the dehumidifier but it gets to its setting in the room and I also have 3 floor fans circulating main room air to make sure there are no dead zones.

these are just two studies that show chitosan suppresses botrytis, but there are others as well. Be very careful using ozone if this is a tent inside your living space. You will probably need to upsize your dehumidifier too.
 
No point in upsizing, it gets to the setting I set already so it's not underpowered. It's just a very mold prone strain. I have 3 identical tents going at all times and out of 15 cycles a year for the past few years with this setup this is the only strain that did this. I will look into Chitosan. Although I am allergic to it, so it kind of scares me to handle that.

Have you possibly tried using any Si during veg?

another possibility is to get more fans over your canopy rather than floor fans?
 
I use Si and I just added another fan to each tent. Right now they have one small 6 inch fan below canopy, 2 above and a 4 inch inline for exhaust for each tent which is temp and humidity controlled.

Which is why I will also be using ozone on some kind of schedule. Stuff kills spores we know, and I think I will do the shock treatments every few weeks. The plus is that my wife will be happy that the basement will smell better.
