First Grow Autos

Good day to all.
This is my first grow.
I have a 4x4x6.5 foot tent with a 480W LED and 3 plants starting in soil.
I placed an order using Herbies and chose some auto seeds as my freebies, so I thought I would give them a go first. I wont feel so bad if all goes downhill and I have to trash the free ones.
I have 6 auto seeds, so I'm going to do 2 runs of 3 plants.... if they all germinate.
First run will be 1 Gorilla glue and 1 Gelato by fast buds and 1 Zkittlez OG from Barney's. Second run will be 1 Gelato and 2 Zkittlez OG.

Hopefully this goes well. :)

Read the forums use search bar, some growers say you should plant in the finished pot and not to transplant auto's, but I had to the other day due to nute burn (it was a small seedling in soil with the wrong nuted in it, so the plant I think would of died without the transplant, I think it's the shock with Autos , shock a auto plant you can stunt it and autos only have short life span, welcome.to RIU and good luck.

I feel like they'll be ok with the transplant. Maybe on my second run I'll plant directly into the 5 gallons.
I put seed in water wait till it goes on bottom of water, put it in a tissue wet tissue,, then let taproot grow a good bit, keeping tissue moist, I broke taproot once, then transplant into 3 gallon fabric pot, I found 5 gallon was too big for me, but they do say the bigger the pot,

I think I can give a little insight about transplanting or not transplanting auto's. I've done both methods on and off for multiple years now and here is my takeaway. Auto's can be transplanted if done carefully BUT they will need to be done early. Auto's have a fast seeking taproot and I believe it limits the plants over all potential if that root bottoms out in your solo cup. In my experience they hit the bottom of the 18oz Solo cup in about 7 days. My personal preference is transplant with soil/peat but I go strait into large pots when working with Coco. Coco seems to crumble apart to much for me that I rather not risk it.

If you feel like you may over water it when it's young then I would say transplanting may help you. But if you feel like you can water ok but might fumble the transplant then go with strait into big pots.

Have you tried using airpots as a starter container?

Prunes the roots for u so by the 10 day mark they can go into their homes with a much more established rootzone.

so... transplant after first week ish, you say? I will be careful when transplanting, thanks. I doubled my solo cups and cut the inside cup down the side in the hopes of removing the cup easier. we shall see...

If you are going into 5 gallon soil - Run 24/0 on them ( this will power more growth ) and give them more rooting potential.

Which soil are you using ?
ahhh.... i see. i was going to run 20/4, but the 24 on will definitely help me keep my temps up and within the optimal range.
the solo cups are filled with FF happy frog and the 5 gal will be FFOF with added perlite.

A lot of people including myself do the double solo cup thing with autos. I transplant my photos the same way. It just works. Throw some mycorrhizae on the roots and call it a day.
