Good short auto.

I am growing bruce banner auto now and really like how short and compact it is. I got a couple freebies and am not sure which company sent them. I like greybeard seeds but they don't have them. Ilgm wants $130 for 10 seeds and that the least you can buy. So now I need to find a seed bank that takes bank cards and has that strain or I need to find another strain. Any suggestions???

Does this make the plant take longer to mature though? I've spotted a few Autos being topped and there time from seed to harvest always seems to be a lot longer than just LST'd
I'm curious about this. I can see how the perceived time would be longer, because after topping it seems like upward growth is stalled while the lower branches fill out, but I'd be interested to find out if there is an actual (as you said) seed to harvest time difference. With all the experiments and comparisons done around here, I wonder if that ones been done? So far I've topped just about all of my autos, but never LST'd one.

To me (as an uneducated new grower) from what I understand autoflowers flower when they're ready. Many people say they have an internal clock for flower, but I wonder if it's more certain conditions need to be met (So much leaf biomass, roots filling a certain space ect)

The only reason I think this is because my first grow flowered 2 weeks earlier than expected (according to the profile on RQS anyway, and I know they're not accurate) so it lead me to believe that the plant had achieved certain conditions and then the ruderalis gene kicked in because it was viable for maturity

So by that logic (again, highly uneducated logic and more than prepared to be told i'm wrong) does topping slow things down entirely? We know a plant would bush out after being topped, but it also put's a lot of focus into healing

Could this "shock" slow root development whilst it's healing and then the other conditions required to be met would therefore take longer, giving more time for the plant to develop in other places before flowering? Allowing a bushier plant but a slower harvest instead of being a kiss of death as was previously believed? Like Ballsack said, it's been disproved that you can't top an auto

All theoretical speculation of course, I'm only on my first grow so have no actual data on this, would be curious to what experienced growers thought

Autos are ever changing simply because of nature and breeders constantly crossing a different kinda mule with a mutant donkey trying to get a thoroughbred stallion. Shit happens and we still burn it.
I started growing autos over 15 years ago when they were developed to stay short to hide among other foliage...then as popularity grew, to get into the game, breeders had to throw a bunch of shit into the gene pool and stamp their name on them. Some did good, some not so much but the market was flooded with 'auto's that resembled original autos in name only.

From my experience it has not changed, but I am a relatively inexperienced grower and I have not done enough experimentation to make any claims of substance. I also grow DWC and these plants have all been way bigger and taken way longer to mature than the breeder stated.

Let me expand on what I said a little more. I have a 4 site DWC, I topped one on this grow. They are all MSNL White Widow Auto Max. The one I topped is the second largest and second most mature plant and it also is about 5X more sensitive to note burn than the other three and the leaves look like shit. Also all 4 plants look totally different from each other despite sharing the same conditions and nutes. So really I have no idea, but I'm gonna keep trying to top autos. Especially when I do Fastbuds orange sherbet, its supposed to be rather tall for an auto.
