I am looking at this leaf with my jewelry magnifier and the Trichomes look really good . The discoloration is fascinating . I don’t see any mold or anything funky that would worry me when smoking it. Could this be a genetic color issue ? I don’t mind it other then it causes the dryness in the leaf. But the yellows and darks still have good looking Trichomes on them.

interesting chem too man. I've been following along -

Chem lines are up there on some of my favorite. I've been on a search for this 91 chem for over 11 years lol. It was light and fluffy; resembled a bead pheno sativa and the high was crystal clear mman. I consistently had gotten flowers 2008/2009. Grower disappeared on me and started raving EDC all that jazz lol. To each their own but he coulda at least given me a cut before he abandoned her.

Pheno # 1 (70 %) : looks like a 50/50 mix of Chem 91 & a Pre-Invasion Afghan. Requires a 30 to 40 day veg, and 63 to 70 days of flowering for best yields. Cal-mag fed lightly from veg, thru the 4 th week of flowering. Feed moderate to heavy in both veg / flowering. Forms large main cola, with smaller golf ball sized buds on side branches. Heavy odor during flowering, predominantly Chemical Smells / Diesel Fuel with hints of Fruit / Citrus with Sweet & Sour undertones. Intense up high, followed a short time later by heavy body relaxation. Occasional smokers may puke from the rush of THC.

Pheno # 2 (30 %): looks more Pre-Invasion Afghan dominant, but veg's faster (than a typical Afghan), she also stretches more once put into flowering. Great potency, like Pheno # 1. Requires a 30 to 40 day veg, 58 to 63 days of flowering for best yields. So, she's a week faster than Pheno # 1. Same feeding requirements. Best topped to form several large colas (improves yield). Heavy odor during flowering, predominantly Fruity odors / Diesel Fuel / Citrus (sweet oranges & tangy lemons) / with sharp undertones that make your nose tingle / burn. Very nice up high that builds over time, with more body effect earlier in the ride

Don't give up on her hidden traits! She's looking great

!! an endeavor I will definitely follow along - I have popped and smoked and hunted and been disappointed many times. Many nanners many keepers and sure danks but never the one I'm set on. Interesting thing was the flwers I got for those few years never came seeded either. No pods no nothing. The hippie either had it dialed or it was a real deal chem that wasn't subject to the herm trait that surfaced. It could be my memory it was a long time ago - there probably was a seed or two. I wish he never discovered molly lol. Maybe I should try and search him on the fakebook.

I came to the point of trying to stabilize my own 2018. I've got my bead pheno mother locked in - few projects in the way before I dive into any chem again though :eyesmoke: :peace:

@Dr.Amber Trichome thanks for the cool thread man - inspired me again. Hopefully a larger leaf turns camo (no deficiency) like your tent so we can officially say u have a chameleon plant

*edit : The official CHEM20 - adapts to it's surrounding colors :blsmoke:

That is absolutely gorgeous. Can you tell me more about how you got it to grow like that. What topping techniques did you do. What size tent is that? I would like to grow that style but fear running out of height to light room.
Ty and sure thing. The tent size is a quasi 2x2 but actually 2'3"x2'3" and 5'2" tall (Mars Hydro, nothing fancy). I chose it specifically bc I wanted a tent that would support linear strip lighting (2ft strips) which is a nice segue for the headroom subject; I can get my plants fairly close to my strips without fear of issue but tbh #1 I would rather have more headroom and #2 this plant got away from me a bit. Also, I propped it up on a milk crate after thoroughly hating the Waterfarm draining experience when it was on the floor (I'm betting that you can relate) but it doesn't need to be this high at all. Next grow (if I don't go back to a larger tent) I will have it propped on something not so tall.

Regarding topping and growing techniques, I keep things real simple. I have tried LST, I have done seas of green, and I have scrogged but I don't sell for profit these days so I don't need to maximize every sq inch of space. My goal is straight forward; grow a pretty plant with nice flower. So all I do is after the plant has developed a few nodes, I top. Then once I have a nice healthy plant again, I top the new tops. Then I flip to 12/12 when I think "that's probably as big as I should go" which clearly is not an exact science but it works for me. Really that's my whole grow style these days, not overthinking the moment and listening to my plants.

To give you an idea of the plant structure, since I just defoliated and cleaned up the main shoots a bit. @Dr.Amber Trichome

Also a gripe I have with this tent, no side access panels. It's a pain to get to those hard to reach places.
Very nice! I use the exact same piece of plastic to cover my drip ring and keep the lighting away from the pebbles as well, because as you know the pebbles can get all gooey with algae so that plastic makes a huge difference helping with protection. The concrete blocks work really well to put the waterfarm bucket up onto to make it easy to drain from the tube. I got them at Home Depot in the outside lumber section for a couple of dollars each. The added benefit using those it is that it stays nice and cool and that can be a real plus when the tent gets hot. They can help Keep the water in the bucket as cool as possible so no bacteria grows. I do , occasionally , find very weird looking long clear jelly fish amoeba looking floaters so try to do a good powerful flush as often as I can . Like you, I tend to be a very Intuitive grower feeding off instinct . After all these years growing I believe I have the skills to do that at this point.

Yeah I'll never buy another tent that doesn't have access on all sides ever again, totally worth the extra cost if companies started offering them.
