mix of 2700k and 6400k cfl for flowering

I was wondering if it will be good to mix 2700k and 6400k cfl during flowering. I have about half 2700k and half 6400k
I know 6400k is used for vegging and 2700k flowering but will it be ok to use both of these at the same time?

It would be best to buy an HPS light, the prices are cheap enough there really isn't a reason not to at this point in time.

If you have to mix them then go ahead it won't hurt anything but you are better off staying in the proper range for flower.

First off...if the OP is asking about flouro, was does someone inevitably have to champion in the use of HPS? Why not just answer the OP's question? Maybe he/she is growing in a small space and heat would be an issue and he/she would NOT be better off with an HPS...

As to mixed spectrum...if you are going to do it, you should use 2/3 red spectrum (2700) and 1/3 blue spectrum (6500k).

HPS actually is not all THAT great for plants...but what it lacks in spectrum it makes up for in intensity. CMH emits a far better spectrum for plants. While phytochrome Pr and Pfr are more active in flowering, they still use blue light, as well as other spectrums.

HPS is particularly weak in blue.

First off...if the OP is asking about flouro, was does someone inevitably have to champion in the use of HPS? Why not just answer the OP's question? Maybe he/she is growing in a small space and heat would be an issue and he/she would NOT be better off with an HPS...

Even with a small space, you can use a smaller HPS fixture along with proper ventilation and get better results than flourescents. Looks like spelling big words instead of getting maximum results is more important to you.

Did you notice I actually provided an answer to the OP...along with the reasoning? That is helpful information. It doesn't take more than a few minutes for the un-initiated to see that the majority of larger grows use HPS. Obviously CFL would not be a good choice in that case.

I will point out to you that when you start to get down to the lower wattage, HPS efficiency starts to decline. Grams per watt is not much different at 150 watts and below regardless of HPS or CFL. People complain about bud density, but the weight is about the same. It is about .60 - .65 grams per watt.

Yo MegaD, go ahead and use both anytime you want... veg and/or flower. Spectrum is nice but intensity is just as important.

The short answer is yes. However ...

it depends on how good you are at growing, and the overall square feet of grow space. 0.65 g/watt at 5000+ lumens per square foot.

If you are inexperienced it may be closer to .30 to .40 grams per watt.

yeah that's ideal, unless your tight for height then you want more 6400K than 2700K that will cut down the stretching.
