if you really MUST sample make small batch of QWISO or QWET , least potency lost and can be done with fresh flower
When you are nearing the end of flower and wondering when to take a plant/table a quick dry/smoke to test high profile is often a good way to tell if you'll like the table. Essentially by correlating trichome appearance to high performance is informative. (I really hope this makes sense because I'm smoking my most recent table). I wouldn't waste the time on extracting because I can dismiss a harsh smoke, but if you can't extracting would make sense! Interesting thought, thanks.

I accertain nothing from an early pick, tells me nothing before a proper cure. quick dry imo tells me nothing except it tastes like grass

When I'm testing a table I'm checking for high profile not taste, that only comes after a cure. However your suggestion about extracting would remove bias about a harsh smoke which a quick dry gives you.

I am failing to understand the logic here.
Yeah okay you want to "test the potency" ... whatever you say

But why go through all that effort from raising the seed/clone, going into veg for at least a month, blooming for at least 2 .... Just so you can pick at the flowers and microwave it?!?!?

It's so he can test the high profile before he kills the plant prematurely. I don't use a microwave to quick dry but I do use the oven.

I don't mean to be mean ...
It's just common sense says ... don't put bud in the microwave!

All the potency you need to know is in those crystals my man. Get a cheap jewelers loupe and take a closer look.
