Two days ago, I transplanted a seedling with some root issues from coco/perlite/vermiculite to DWC hoping to provide more ideal conditions.
There was no improvement and lower leaves continued to yellow and top leaves continue to "claw".
A couple hours ago I was checking the roots and water ph when I noticed there was some sort of fungus or infection on the stem above the water line.

I decided to cut off the infected part and treat the seedling like a cutting and attempt to root it.
I cut the stem above the fungus part and saw the center of the stem with brownish grey green, so I kept cutting higher and higher till I ran out of stem.
There was still some grey green in the center of the stem.

What color is that center part suppose to be?
Did I manage to cut off all the infected parts or is this seedling doomed?
