Has anybody seen someone DIY a Samsung strip build with COB's incorporated too? Maybe it's an outright silly suggestion? I'm really impressed with how my plants are responding to COB lighting in one of my nurseries. The leaves are praying to the light in a way I've never seen happen under my T5. I get a little of that effect under my quantum boards, but nothing like what I'm seeing under the 120W of COB lighting. I really don't even see anyone using COB's anymore for the most part. This is confusing to me considering the results I'm observing in my nursery. It just kinda blows me away that the industry seems to have left COB's in the rear view mirror and moved full steam ahead with strip / quantum board builds.
Maybe I need to ask a question and hopefully someone can answer it. Is the spectrum of light emitted by a high quality Cree COB in 3000k something that can be duplicated in a strip / quantum board build? The 2 quantum boards I have been using combine 3000k and 5000k chips to produce what the vendor calls a "daylight" spectrum. If I assembled a strip build with 3000k lm301b strips would that light produce the same spectrum as the Cree COB in 3000k? I just want to make sure I'm not approaching this from the wrong angle. After ordering 2 quantum boards I'm at the point I would like to customize my own unit. Even if I start with something small it would still be a great learning experience.
One more question too. Would it even make any sense from a technical perspective to combine COB's with Samsung strips in a light build? If both COB's and strips are rated for 3000k are both producing the exact same spectrum of light?
