I'd spray it with a little water. You need it to shuck it's shell.

Too much light, they only need a little right now, also humidity dome.
Also, I did ponder this question. Can someone else weigh in? Too MUCH light for a seedling? I have it up pretty high right now, not much heat on them other than what my tent temp is set at.

The dome holds humidity 80-90% and also defuses the light.I dont know your light but a 10 watt T8 is just right.

Less is more you just want to provide a little lubrication to encourage the shell to come off.
I ended up getting the shell off over the period of 24 hours, simply putting a tiny amount waiting a minute and slightly pulling it off (wait 8 hours and repeat). I ended up getting the shell off entirely. However, my first two leaves are not opening up. They are still stuck together as if it were in the shell. Is this over time or am I doing something wrong? Thank you!

Take a deep breath, relax! Stop messing with it, you're doing fine. People would do better germinating these seeds if they treated them more like their tomato seeds, starting them indoors for their outdoor garden. It's good to start seeds under light, they respond well to the top down warmth they get from lights, just not too much. I start all seeds under t5s. I never use humidity domes for seeds, only for cuttings. I link this page a lot because it has good info: https://www.mandalaseeds.com/Guides/Germination-Guide
Right now your main focus should be on not "loving it to death." Overwatering is the #1 mistake people make at this stage.

Take a very close look, use a magnifying glass. There's a membrane that is part of the seed. That needs to come off too.
