With coco you want to go:
Solo cup to one gallon to two gallon.
Root bound the fuck out of them, seriously root bound before you up pot. Focus on growing roots.
You can grow a monster in a two gallon.
Feed them 6+ times a day on drippers to run off.
Watch EC run off to know how to adjust feed.
Didn’t read rest of the posts, that’s your issue though.
You went straight to five gallon. It’s not soil, it’s hydro.



Edit: Put 2 inches of hydroton on top of coco to keep algae and gnats away.

I think there is an exception to every rule, and bk78 is correct that when transplanting to a larger container it is possible to overwater coco, so right after a transplant I think letting coco dry out a bit more is fine.

However the explosive growth he described after a watering can be sustained constantly in coco with the correct watering routine. His plant are likely experiencing minor stress in between each watering while they dry out and then respond with a boost of growth after finally getting water.

Remember again that coco is not soil, it’s a hydroponic medium. This means that all nutrients are immediately available to the plant via the nutrient solution and maintaining a stable root environment will allow a well maintained coco plant to sustain “explosive” growth constantly.

I can’t see the whole plant in bk78 pics, but to be honest they look pretty skinny for coco plants of that apparent age and size. If he were to adopt the recommend coco feeding and watering schedule I believe his results, even if they are decent now, could be considerably better.

Since my last post I went and took a look at "bk's shit show", horrible name by the way. I try to hesitate throwing too much mud, but looking at his grow journal it confirms my initial assessment. Those are really skinny weak looking coco plants. I am not going to say much more than that. I am sure he will chime in here to defend himself. Coco plants that age and size should be so much thicker and robust, those poor plants look like they have been borderline starved their whole life. Getting just enough to keep them green and growing, but not enough to help them thrive.
