What’s the best way to LST this plant?

I want more branches to get better light. If I bend the plant in one direction to give some branches light, the others will be shaded. I’m not sure which techniques I can use.

Also, I’m sure they’re important, but what is the purpose of the fan leaves? I was thinking that maybe trimming a few off from the top would be helpful in getting more light to penetrate. I’m not sure if Dan leaves is the correct term, but I’m speaking about the stems that don’t produce branches, they just produce one big leaf at the end.

If the fan leaves are blocking bud sites get rid of them and lower fan leaves can go. Basically, just bend it over and tie to the side of the pot in the direction that blocks the least amount of other flower sites. I use the soft wire plant ties, you can use pretty much anything just not too tight around the stem.

OP, everything you do depends on what you’re growing and what you want in the end. If you’re growing autos, just pull branches down. If you’re growing photo period plants, topping will be your best go. With lst, you don’t really stunt the growth of the plant, but with the nodes being even, it spreads out the growth hormones to all the tops. Now with topping.. well it’ll stunt the growth for a couple days, BUT it also redirects the energy the same way. Here is my plant I’m growing now. I topped it 2 times. The first time was at the top branch, the second time was for all 8 of the tops that formed after I topped the first time. I now how over 40 tops that will produce me great flower!

Again. It all depends on what you want and the amount of room you have. Topping will create monster plants lol, lst will create little bushes

I clicked on some link someone posted awhile back and saw this:




That was all I needed to know. Why anyone would make a video with those crappy burnt up nasty plants defies logic. And furthermore, why anyone would listen to anything that hack has to say defies logic as well. He doesn't know anything he didn't google the day before. Anyone can make a video and his are not even good. There's much better content online than the garbage that guy puts up.

If new cannabis growers would take the time to actually learn some science and learn about plant physiology they would have better success right from the start because they'd understand how a plant grows. Not the cannabis bro-science garbage floating around that leads them down a path of nonsense and practices that are more myth than science.

Here's a good place top start for those too lazy to read an actual book. It's not cannabis specific but cannabis is just a plant and has the same basic requirements and grows the same as most other plants on the planet. People need to move beyond thinking cannabis is some plant that requires super special things to grow. It doesn't. I think there are a series of 5 video's on plant physiology that are all well delivered and provide valuable information regarding how plants uptake nutrients, soil, roots, etc... That hack on youtube can grow some crappy looking cannabis plants but that's it. That picture is just wasted space on my hard drive but I keep it to show when someone tries to use that guy as if he's some expert on growing cannabis. He's not.

Ok thanks. I’ve currently got three plants growing and they’re all photoperiod and the same strain. I’ve topped both plants twice. The first time, I waited until the 5th node and then I topped down to the third node and removed all growth at the first node. Then for the second time, I waited until those new branches hit three nodes and I topped down to the second. I haven’t done anymore topping and trimming since that.

Now would be a good time to either set up a trellis or to start tying branches down to the side of the pot
