If you have some old fluoro fixtures laying around?, can retrofit for them with new led bulbs

Big box store led shop lights are getting interesting too (for veg) if diy isn't an option

We hear that a lot but see very little in terms of results.
Do you have any links you can share to people vegging under the LED Fluoro replacements?
@Airwalker16 was the only on I can recall doing it and it wasn't quite what I would refer to as impressive :peace:

I've been a MH/HPS user for 20 years. I usually veg with a 600 watt MH. I always wanted to try LED so I went and bought a few HLG 100 V2's for my 4 x 4 tent. They blew the 600 watt MH out of the water with only 400 watts.

I was so impressed I called HLG and wound up getting three 550 Bspec for my other veg tents. I got my order and hooked one up right away. I was an LED virgin up till this point so I installed the light and left it alone for 2 days. When I checked in on the plants I saw that the main fan leaves were quite burned. I checked the dial and it was on 100%. I was like.........if this thing burns the leaves at 480 watts I wont even need half this power. So I turned the light down to 40% and the plants are kicking ass again. I can't fucking believe how they are growing under a little more than 200 watts. Here are some pics:

This is the light at 40%

I am very happy with these lights not only because they grow plants so well but because they are saving me $$ on cooling too. Instead of 4 tents using 2400 watts I am using about 850 to 900 watts in the same tents. I save on watts used and my central A/C doesn't have to work as hard cooling my rooms.

No more viney and spindly plants with these lights. No need for a 600 watt MH to fatten up the branches. Set this puppy to 40% and watch the plant fucking go baby. Now I need to try out the bloom lights as well. Those Scorpians look just about right :blsmoke:

I've vegged with most kelvin options out there, this isn't rocket science. If it's pumping out Photons to the canopy, it will "work" generally speaking.

This lady began life under 2 foot 4 bulb with led replacement bulbs in a veg spectrum. The bulbs have a heat sink that runs across the top of them. Other than that I know nothing about them. When she got to big for the 2 foot fixture I moved her into my 4x4 and hung ahlg 260 3000k over her but then on impulse I bought a Growers choice 420 where she stayed till home issues required her to be moved to my buddies place where he fried her under a hlg 260 3000k because he'd never used LED's before and didn't realize just how powerful they can be. She was then moved outdoors till the weather forced me to bring her back inside where she has been ever since living under 2 hlg 260's 3000's. She is 6 weeks into flower.

I would have to agree with that statement

Didn't watch the video, drinking on the porch & don't wanna fuck up my Bluetooth speaker vibe.

Anyways, cannabis growers usually make their money in flower, not veg..... So don't have to hunt for that optimal spd for moms/kids imo.

I will agree with that point if you are growing 12" or less plants in veg.

I will disagree with that point when you are going bigger in veg. People who only do 2 to 4 plants in a tent need more than just a weak ass light to give them optimal growth for the bushes they are growing. A strong light in veg will give them the strength they need while flowering.

It depends what you want to do.

Who said anything about weak lights?

Talking about using led shop lights/highbays/t8,t5 retrofit bulbs in a dedicated veg area if you don't wanna diy on the cheap.
