Air Pruning Magic, Poor Root Structure, or too Large of Pot?

First time growing in fabric pots. I’m used to seeing circling roots inside normal pots. Is this normal for fabric pots? Is this the magic of air pruning I hear so much about? Or do I just have a weak root structure? Or too big of a pot? It’s a 5 gallon fabric grow bag and the plant was in there for about 3.5 months after being transplanted from a 1/2 gal plastic pot.

I can do that. I just expected to see more when I pulled it out. I’ll shake things up and see if I can get a better look at the roots.

Broke off the loosest stuff and the rootball is about a 9” “sphere”. Not very impressed, but I’ll be using 3 gallon fabric pots next time. Plant was trained to be 24” tall and filled canopy area of 1ft x 2ft.

Bet I could have plantEd right back into that same bag. Plenty of room for another root set.

Next thing to learn is how to re-amend supersoil. I’ve got a new batch cooking now. I might just shake this used soil into the new batch I started a week ago. My first batched seemed a bit hot anyway.
